NFL Free Agency begins at midnight. Some early predictions about where the biggest free agents may go:
Albert Hayneswerth- Some say he is going to get $100 million from the Redskins. Some say the Redskins don't want him. The Giants or Cowboys could be players as well, as could his original team, the Titans. He went to Tennessee, drafted by the Titans, so I am going to guess he goes to the team closest to Tennessee that offers him the most money. Hello Dan Snyder. Hello Washington.
TJ Houshmandzadeh- If the Eagles are smart, they will offer him big money to play opposite DeSean Jackson. Bringing in Housh, along with a veteran wideout like Marvin Harrison, would get Donovan to sign that extension.
Laveranues Coles- Easiest free agent call. The Jets cut him, his best friend is Chad Pennington. Bien venidos a Miami.
Ray Lewis- NFL Network reporters say that the Jets will offer Lewis 3 years, $25 million. DeMarcus Ware says Lewis told him his dream is to be a Cowboy. But I just can't imagine Lewis in a different uniform. Expect him to stay in Balitimore.
Derrick Dockery- Just cut by the Bills today, he instantly becomes the best Guard on the market. Rumor is that he was never happy in Buffalo, but was happy in Washington. The Skins need him back, because they were never able to replace him. I think he comes home. Also, if he isn't signed by draft day, the Skins could sweeten the deal by drafting his younger brother.
Donte Hall- If Washington doesn't sign him before midnight, he's gone. A Raider/Redskin last year, I think Hall will hear an offer he can't refuse, and that will come from the Patriots. They always seem to need corners, and Hall is the best one available.
Various QBs- So many names. Grossman, Leftwich, Warner, Collins, Garcia, Simms, Losman and Fitzpatrick. The Jets will get one of them, but apparently have no interest in Leftwich. Warner will stay in Arizona or will retire. Collins really should stay in Tennessee. the rest are a crap shoot. I think the best pickup of the bunch longterm is Leftwich. San Francisco could bring him in and he would win that job easily. Jeff Garcia, 39, would be good for a team that wants to win now, a one year deal. Maybe the Jets? This might be the most fun position to watch during the FA period.
Enjoy the madness at midnight!
