C-A-P-S! CAPS! CAPS! CAPS!

What a comeback The Caps win and advance to the 2nd round. Now we get to face Crosby... ugh... if we win it may be the happiest I'll ever been while watching hockey. If we lose, the exact opposite. But that all starts Friday. Now just enjoy the win. CAPS WIN!

What do you get when you combine the Redskins and Gonzaga? Doug Dutch!

A HUUUUGE congratulations to my good friend and former teammate Doug Dutch of the Michigan Wolverines (#35 once he switched to CB). Doug agreed to a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins on Monday. I know that he will make us all very proud. Can't wait for my customized Dutch jersey!

NFL Draft Winners and Losers

Well, another NFL Draft has come and gone. Did you enjoy it as much as I did? I hope so. Here are my winners and losers of the Draft:

WINNERS:

-New York Jets: They needed a QB, they got one, and kept next year's first round pick.

- Philadelphia Eagles: LeSean McCoy is a good compliment to Westbrook. Not thrilled about Maclin when they could have had Q, but I love the Jason Peters trade.

- Washington Redskins: They didn't trade up for Sanchez, and got the pass rusher they have been supposed to draft for the last 5 years.

- San Francisco 49ers: Crabtree is a steal at 10 if he isn't a diva, and I LOVE the Nate Davis pick for a team without a QB.

- Baltimore Ravens: Michael Oher is a quality tackle and quality young man. I want him on my team.

- Carolina Panthers: They drafted Cuse's Tony Fiammetta, so they automatically make the list.

LOSERS:

- Oakland Raiders: In the world of the late Chris Farley... Izzay? Just remember Heyward-Bey, speed kills.

- Detroit Lions: I like the Stafford pick, I do. But Oher is a starting left tackle in the NFL, and was there at pick 20. What do the Lions do? Draft a tight end. Rey Maualuga is there at 33, they draft a corner. No sir, I don't like it.

- Dallas Cowboys: They just didn't really do anything.

Facial Hair Friday

On time again this week, FHF is choosing a new member of its club. Today, we honor the new lip fuzz of the Cardinal's Rick Ankiel. I believe it is his moustache which has helped him switch positions so effectively. Congrats Rick.
Check in again next week.

Hollywood Draft

They just did a very interesting thing on ESPN's First Take. They asked the 1st and 10 guys to do a top 5 draft if the were starting an NFL franchise. However, the players they would pick would be from movies about football. It got me thinking, who would be my top 5? Here they are:

1. Bobby Boucher, LB, The Waterboy
- The man that got South East Louisiana State University a win in the Bourbon Bowl. Boucher is easily the most talented, albeit craziest, defensive player in the history of Hollywood football. To quote the film:
Paco: Look at Bobby tackle. I haven't seen a tackle like that since Joe Montana.
Walter: Joe Montana was a quarterback, you idiot.
Paco: I said Joe Mantegna.

2. Jonathon "Mox" Moxon, QB, Varsity Blues
- A true leader. Not only can he throw a ball hard enough to brake his dad's face, but he can also inspire a team to revolt against their coach and still win the State title. Furthermore, I plan on running the Oopty-oop offense, and no one understands that system like Moxon. He may nto want your life, but I want him as my quarterback.

3. Julian Washington, RB, Any Given Sunday
- We need an all pro-RB that is able to learn about selfishness, so that by the end of the season, not only is he making big plays, but he is also doing what is best for the team. Washington is that back. He is willing to go that extra inch for you.

4. Julius Campbell, LB, Remember The Titans
- This pick would have been Gerry Bertier, but he can't walk anymore. Instead, we go with his Left Side/Strong Side brother and pride of your TC Williams Titans. He is the perfect compliment to Boucher and give my team a solid defense.

5 & 6. Jamal and Andre Jackson, Guards, The Replacements
- As they say in the movie, these two are a package deal. They are only good when they are playing with each other. Mox needs protection, and these two big men are just the thing to protect their QB, whether it is on the field, or in the parking lot with a Barretta. I am also thinking about playing them as DTs in my 4-3 scheme.

BONUS! I am going to round out my Top 10 for you!

7. Gale Sayers, RB, Brian's Song
- This one is sort of a no-brainer. Sayers is a real life NFL Hall of Fame running back. Plus, he is played by Billy Dee Williams, which just makes him that much greater. After every touchdown, he can kneel and say a prayer for Brian Piccolo.

8. Nigel "The Leg" Gruff, K, The Replacements
- A kicker than can make a field goal from over 70 yards is ok in my book. Sure, the team may have some other holes, but Gruff is too important to pass up. We will just need to solve that whole off-field gambling issue...

9. Earl Wilkinson/Ray Smith, S, The Replacements
- I needed someone in my secondary, and regardless of what name they call him, Wilkinson is an all-pro player. Once he stops beating up cops, he would be a valuable part of our team. He can cover and can make big plays on D.

10. Willie Beaman, WR/QB, Any Given Sunday
- Since I have more faith in Mox's abilities, I am drafting Willie Beaman as my Slash. He will be used mainly as a wideout, but will also be a part of the Oopty-Oop Wildcat we will run with Washington and Sayers. He is too talented to pass up, and he does keep the fans... Screamin...

We would round out our team with other excellent prospects, such as VB's WR Charlie Tweeder, TR's Sumo OT Jumbo, and RTT's LB/S/CB specialist Petey Jones. Our head coach would be TR's Jimmy McGinty, Defensive coordinator RTT's Herman Boone, and offensive coordinator and former star QB, VB's Lance Harbor, who will put the Oopty-oop in place. What is your top 10?

NFL DRAFT EXTRAVAGANZA Pt. 3

So, if all the rumors are true, then my Mock will be completely wrong. Apparently there is no chance Mark Sanchez falls out of the top 10. So, lets say that this mock now assumes (foolishly) that there are no trades. It won't happen, I know. Nevertheless, I will continue doing it the way I think it should be done. Here is the rest of the first round:

11. Buffalo Bills- Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss
- They traded away Jason Peters. They lost Derrick Dockery to the Redskins. Trent Edwards can only get TO the ball if he is on his feet. Lots of people have Oher in the top 10, so getting him at 11 is a great value pick.

12. Denver Broncos- Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
- I know. Sanchez is sitting there. And they just traded away Jay Cutler. But I think they are willing to work with Kyle Orton for at least a year. Their holes on defense are just too much. Jackson is the best pure DE in the draft, and can instantly help the D-line.

13. Washington Redskins- Mark Sanchez, QB, USC
- I hate this. Its not that Sanchez can't be a good pro. He could. Its just that we have other needs, and Andre Smith is on the board. So are Brian Cushing and Robert Ayers. But Dan Snyder has his eyes fixed firmly on Sanchez. Whether he trades up to get him or is lucky enough to have him fall to 13, Snyder will get his man. Ugh.

14. New Orleans Saints- Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, Ohio State
- Deuce is gone. Reggie isn't an every down back. Drew could throw it every down, and I wouldn't mind since he is my fantasy QB. But the Saints need a running back. While I like Georgia's Knowshon Moreno more, I think the Saints go with the bigger back in Beanie.

15. Houston Texans- Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
- Andre Smith is still on the board at this pick, and the Texans have never had a franchise tackle. David Carr's career was ruined by that fact. Smith could have been the #1 pick overall if the draft was held in December. His value is too high for the Texans not to take him.

16. San Diego Chargers- Brian Cushing, LB, USC
- Shawn Merriman is coming back from a serious knee injury. Brian Cushing is versatile and can play outside or inside. They will think about picking a running back, but I think they let LT and Sproles carry the load for another year. They plug Cushing into their D and don't have the early season stumbles they did last year.

17. New York Jets- Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State
- They wants Sanchez. They want Brady Quinn. They wanted Jay Cutler. They will get Josh Freeman. He is a project, but is the only other QB with traditional first round talent. He can sit for a very painful year while the Jets make do with Clemens, Ratliff and Eric Ainge. Then, he comes in, and tries to be the second coming of.... Joe Flacco.

18. Denver Broncos- Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss
- Who? A nose tackle, that's who. Again, Denver needs D. They could go with DE's Everette Brown or Robert Ayers also.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee
- Who is left on the Bucs? They cut every well known player not named Ronde. Simeon Rice ain't walking through that door. Derrick Brooks ain't walking through that door. Warrick Dunn ain't walking through that door... again... They just need warm bodies, and Ayers is an explosive and talented warm body to go opposite Gaines Adams. He helps rebuild that D that Tampa was famous for.

20. Detroit Lions- Everette Brown, DE, Florida State
- The Lions three biggest needs are QB, left tackle and DE. Everette Brown is another value pick at 20, and fills one of those three needs. One guess as to what they draft with pick #33.

21. Philadelphia Eagles- Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
- The best all-around back in the draft goes to a team that already has an all-pro all-around back. However, Westbrook gets hurt a lot, and Moreno can be the heir-apparent. I am sure my boy McNabb is praying that they draft a receiver here, but I think they will likely trade for one first. If so, look for this pick to go to Arizona for Boldin, and Moreno is still taken in this spot.

22. Minnesota Vikings- Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
- Unfortunately there are no 1st round WRs from South Carolina in this draft. Either T-Jack or Sage will have a big, fast target to to in Darrius. This will help stretch the D and open up holes for #28.

23. New England Patriots- Clay Matthews, OLB, USC
- The Pats love their blue-chip, tough, team-first players. That's what Matthews is. He joins Jerod Mayo as the young guns on the NE D, replacing the vets whose hands are too heavy with Super Bowl rings.

24. Atlanta Falcons- Vonte Davis, CB, Illinois
- They have their franchise QB. They have their franchise RB. They have a great WR. They just added a Hall of Fame TE. That means that the Falcons will pick for their defense. They haven't had a good corner since D'Angelo Hall left. Davis is the best corner in the draft.

25. Miami Dolphins- Hakeem Nicks, WR, UNC
- Thats right, the Dolphins are picking at 25. Chad Pennington and the boys did a great job in turning this franchise around. They have already announced that Chad Henne will take over the calls in 2010, and they already have the speed receiver in Ted Ginn Jr (and the entire Ginn family). Nicks has the best hands in the draft, period. QBs dream of possession receivers like this.

26. Baltimore Ravens- Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers
- The Ravens have an annoying tendency of always finding good defensive players in the draft. However, they haven't quite gotten the whole wide receiver thing down. They have Derrick Mason... and that's all. They are often hurt. Britt is a tough and talented all-around WR. He would fit perfectly.

27. Indianapolis Colts- Evander Hood, DT, Mizzou
- This would have been Percy Harvin if he hadn't tested positive for marijuana at the combine. The Colts are one of the few teams that draft character, and Hood has no issues. He also fills a need at DT, next to super-DE Dwight Freeney. Hood is a bit of a reach, but I think the Colts know what they are doing.

28. Buffalo Bills- Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State
- They got their tackle to replace Jason Peters in Oher at 11. Now they use the pick they got for Peters to get another offensive weapon for Trent Edwards. Pettigrew is the only TE worthy of a first round pick, and is a super athlete.

29. New York Giants- Ray Manaluga, ILB, USC
- They wanted Nicks to replace Plaxico Burress. They could trade this pick for Boldin or Braylon Edwards. But since we assume that they will keep this pick, and that they don't want to take Harvin, another receiver with issues, they will take Manaluga. He was the most impressive LB at USC, and will be the third member of that corp to be drafted.

30. Tennessee Titans- Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
- If there is any coach I trust to put the fear of God into a problem player, it is Jeff Fisher. He benched Pac Man, and will do the same to Harvin if he doesn't fly right. He is uber-talented, and would be a good option for whoever is playing QB.

31. Arizona Cardinals- Donald Brown, RB, UCONN
- Edge wants out, Tim Hightower showed some talent, but was inconsistent. Assuming that they don't trade away Boldin and have already picked Brown before 31, I see them taking the UCONN star. I watched him in the International Bowl, and he was the UCONN Huskies team. Just the type of all-purpose back the Cards need.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers- Max Unger, C, Oregon
- The Steelers don't really need anything. They are the Champs. But it is always good to have depth along the O-line to protect Big Ben, and centers can usually play at least 2 of the line positions. Unger is big and tough, the perfect Steelers player.

Come back tomorrow for my steals of the draft- those late round players that will surprise everyone, and best players left after the 1st round.

I Can No Longer Defend the Nationals

It is bad enough that the Nationals are an awful team. Scratch that, a team with terrible pitching, because their offense is doing more than enough to win games. But now the front office and manager Manny Acta have gone too far. This past Saturday, the Nats benched Elijah Dukes. Now, normally this would be because of something bad he did. He does have a checkered past. However, this time they benched him for showing up 5 minutes late... BECAUSE HE WAS AT A LITTLE LEAGUE CHARITY EVENT! This is insane. Acta can't win, and now he can't even get PR things right. I can no longer defend him still having a job. He is just getting everything wrong. So don't unpack those bags Manny. And that goes for you too GM Rizzo.

FHF and NATS

A great Facial Hair Friday, as we honor the Washington Nationals first win, with the selection of SS Cristian Guzman. He has shown various forms of goatee in his time in Washington, and we appreciate him for it (as well as for his all-star play). Congrats Cristian, and GO NATS!
I'll be at UVA all weekend, so I will see you Sunday night.

Where Has All the Orange Gone?

The Syracuse basketball team was blown up in the past week. It began with Jonny Flynn, Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris announcing they would declare for the draft, but would not hire agents. While losing Paul and Devo would be a huge loss, the biggest blow would be Jonny if he decided not to come back. Well, the other shoe has dropped, and Jonny Flynn will hire an agent, ending his two-year Syracuse career. While I will always be grateful that Jonny played with us, I do not understand this move, and I am bitter. Had he stayed, he would have easily been a top 5 draft pick next year. This was not the case of a guy whose stock wouldn't get higher. Maybe with Eric, who will still only be a 2nd Round pick at best. But Jonny would have been the best point guard in the country. As it is, he may be the 4th or 5th best in this draft class, including James Harden from Arizona State, Ricky Rubio from Spain and possibly Ty Lawson of UNC. But best of luck Mr. Flynn. We will miss you as we drop back down to a decent, middle of the pack bubble team. Ugh.

FACIAL HAIR FRIDAY

A day late, I know. But it is worth the wait. This week, I chose to look to the world of golf for our winner. The Masters are underway, and what would a big tournament be without famous caddies? Fluff the Caddy is one of the most recognizable faces on the tour, even more than some players. His trademark lip caterpillar has made him famous, and JFLANland honors him today. Congrats Fluff!

More Next Week, and on time, I promise.

Baseball is Back

Usually, I can give full previews of teams and seasons off the top of my head. I can accurately pick playoff teams in the NFL before the season at least 85% of the time. Not the same for baseball. Oh sure, it is easy to say that the Red Soxs and Yankees will be pretty good, and that one of them will make the playoffs. But what about all the other teams in the playoff races? Who is going to be this year's Tampa Bay Rays? Who will battle for the wild card? Will the Mets choke again? I don't know the answers. The season is too long to make bold predictions like that in April. So here are the only predictions I will make for the 2009 Major League Baseball season:

- The Washington Nationals will not lose 100 games. However, they will not win 80, and will probably finish 5th in the NL East yet again.

- The Baltimore Orioles are a stable young team with great offensive weapons. They will still finish in fourth behind the two Big Spenders and those pesky Rays.

- The Padres and Pirates will not be contenders, but will pull off some nice upsets.

- Albert Pujols will finish no lower than 3rd in NL MVP voting, and may win it.

- The NL Central will have the most teams in their Division race for the longest amount of time.

- The Cubs will win the World Series.... maybe....

- At least one more big name player will be exposed for using steroids.

Enjoy!

NFL DRAFT EXTRAVAGANZA Pt. 2

Here is part two of my mock draft (subject to change). Picks 6-10:

6. Cincinnati Bengals- Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
- The Bengals need alot. They get back a healthy Carson Palmer, but they have lost TJ Houshmandzadeh to the Seahawks, Chris Henry to jail, and are rumored to be shopping Chad Ocho Cinco. Palmer needs someone to throw to, and Crabtree is being compared to Larry Fitzgerald.

7. Oakland Raiders- Jeremy Maclin, WR, Mizzou
- Al Davis loves speed. Period. Its that simple. And Jamarcus Russel can throw the deep ball really well. Imagine if he has an explosive young receiver who can catch up to those passes and haul them in for long gains. Maclin is a threat to score every time he touches the ball, whether it be on offense or special teams. Look for Russel and the Raiders to throw a lot of screen passes to him, or RUN DMC to pass to him out of the Wild Cat.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars- Malcolm Jenkins, CB/S, Ohio State
- They are going to try to trade down, or take the best available player for their needs. They have a big hole at corner, and that is what Jenkins played at OSU. The problem is that his combine performance showed he may be better suited at safety. I think the Jags will be stuck at #8, unless Crabtree or Maclin falls this far and another team really wants to trade up.

9. Green Bay Packers- Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State
- The Green Bay defense let down new QB Aaron Rodgers last season. He played well enough to win games for them. The D needs a young speed rusher like Maybin. Maybin is similar to Orakpo, only a little less versatile. But he should fit in well with the young Packers' D.

10. San Francisco 49ers- B.J Raji, DT, Boston College
- This is the first slot where I think Mark Sanchez could go. But he only started one year at USC. And he could not beat out John David Booty for the job the year before that. Instead, I think the 49ers take the best player available, and that is Raji. He will fall a little due to the possible marijuana test failure. Coach Mike Singeltary will love to have this big body down on the line protecting Pro Bowl LB Patrick Willis.

Picks 11-15 in a few days.

When March Madness Gets Boring

The UNC men, the UCONN women. They were supposed to win. They were the favorites all season. They both won by around 20 points. Yawn. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate good basketball. Both of these teams are more than deserving because they dominated the competition. But that isn't what makes March Madness fun. Its about the upsets, the buzzer beaters, the Cinderellas. These tournaments just felt stale. Then again, if it were my Orange winning it all, I would say it is the best tournament ever. At least now we know that the best game of the season was the Syracuse/UCONN 6 OT game in the Big East quarterfinals. There is always next year.

How to Have a Home Game in the Final Four

Was I the only one who, while being happy for the people of Detroit getting to see a winning team, felt that UCONN was at an unfair advantage tonight? They lost to Michigan State in the Final Four 82-73 in front of a record 72,000 fans in Detroit's Ford Field. And a good 60,000 of those fans were wearing the MSU green and white. I will not fault Michigan State for taking advantage of that home cooking and translating it to a win, but a part of me (not the part that hates UCONN mind you), feels like the Huskies got a raw deal. And it may have cheated the NCAA fans out of one of the great finals match-ups.

I believe most analysts would agree that UCONN and UNC, who outclassed Villanova 83-69, would have matched the two best teams in the country. They both played at the highest level all year. To see Price vs Lawson, Thabeet vs Hansborough, it would have been a CBS executive's dream. Now, they will get huge ratings in Michigan and North Carolina, but I am not sure it will translate to other markets, especially on the west coast. Let's hope it is a good game, and not just a missed opportunity.

MOCK DRAFT EXTRAVAGANZA- Part 1

3 weeks to go until the 2009 NFL Draft. Over the next few days I will be bringing you my mock draft, which will be subject to change due to trades or free agent signings. We being, of course, at the beginning. The Detroit Lions have the #1 overall pick. They did not send it to Denver for Jay Cutler, so they still do not have a QB. We saw how effective some young signal callers can be with the success of Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan. However, we have also seen how young tackles can provide protection for quarterbacks and help turn teams around, such as Jake Long or Joe Thomas. What will the Lions do? And how will it effect the other teams in the top 5?

1. Detroit Lions- Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
- They don't really have the money, but it sounds like they are in love with him. He has a big arm and is mobile. His accuracy is decent when on the move, and he played in an extremely difficult SEC. It wouldn't be my pick, but the Lions need to make a splash for their fans. A franchise QB is that splash.

2. St. Louis Rams- Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
- When the Lions don't take Smith, the Rams get the easiest selection in the Draft. After cutting ties with future HOF-er Orlando Pace, the Rams need a bookend tackle that will protect Bulger and their future QBs for years to come.

3. Kansas City Chiefs- Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
- The Chiefs traded their second round pick for franchise QB Matt Cassel and LB Mike Vrabel. While Vrabel is solid, he is also up there in years. Curry may be the safest pick in the Draft, with amazing speed and skill for his position. If Glenn Dorsey lives up to expectations, the Chiefs have the making of a talented young defense.

4. Seattle Seahawks- Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
- This pick could have been BJ Raji if he didn't fail a marijuana test at the Combine. The Seahawks need a solid tackle to help protect the aging Matt Hasselbeck, and scouts say Monroe is graded only slightly lower than Jason Smith.

5. Cleveland Browns- Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, Texas
- Set at QB, the Browns will look to help their anemic defense. Last year Eric Mangini fell in love with DE/OLB Vernon Gholston and drafted him at #6. Now in Cleveland, and without a solid pass rusher, he will do the same with the extremely talented Orakpo. He is versatile, in the mold of Baltimore's Terrel Suggs. He can pass rush from the sanding position or speed rush with his hand on the ground.

Soon to come- Picks 6- 10

I Like Orton

I have to say it. I love Kyle Orton. He was very successful at Purdue in a similar system to the one that Denver coach Josh McDaniels will run. He has showed that he can win in the NFL. Had he not injured his ankle last year, the Bears could have been a playoff team. Now, Orton gets to throw to Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, the slot machine Brandon Stokley, new addition Jabar Gaffney and talented tight end Daniel Graham. In other words, a whole lot more than he had in Chicago. I think Orton, if he wins the starting job, has a great chance to pass for over 4,000 yards just like Cutler did. So I'll be rooting for you, my bearded friend. Go Orton!

No Mo Plaxico

With his future and his freedom in doubt, The New York Giants have cut WR Plaxico Burress. This brings an end to a successful yet drama filled relationship. The G-men did win the 2007-2008 Super Bowl, with Burress catching the winning touchdown pass. He also showed how valuable he was by his absence last year, when the Giants were bounced out of the playoffs in their first game. The Giants are now left with a serious hole at receiver, so look for them to address that need in the draft.

FACIAL HAIR FRIDAY

Its time for FHF once again. In honor of the huge NFL trade that occurred yesterday, we have decided to pay tribute to a man who has protected the beard since being drafted out of Purdue. The newest member of the Denver Broncos, Kyle Orton! Hopefully his new mile-high beard will bring him great success in the Broncos' new system. Congrats Mr. Orton, and good luck in Denver.

More next week!

B.J Raji-stafarian?

I swear, some of these NFL Draft prospects must be the dumbest men alive. BC Defensive Tackle B.J Raji could have thought ahead to the Combine last month, and seen it as his chance to solidify his place in the top 5. What happens instead? He comes in and tests positive for marijuana. Now, I could normally use this time to rip on BC for having less than stellar individuals in their athletics department, but instead I will just say this: The idiot should have known better. He is lucky he is good, and will still go in the first round, probably in the top 15. But chances are that the one joint or bong hit he took will be the most expensive drug he will ever have, cause it just cost him a few million dollars.

Jay Cutler in a Bear Market

Cutler-Gate is officially over, as the former Bronco QB and a 5th round pick is being sent to Chicago for Kyle Orton, a 2009 1st round pick (#18 overall), the 2010 first round pick and the 2009 3rd round pick. Thank God it is over. This situation worried me, especially since the Redskins got in on the action yesterday. I was worried that we would start to give up our draft picks again like we did in the mid/late 90s when we were an awful team. Instead, all we did was openly say Jason Campbell wasn't the answer and that we want to get rid of him. Oy!

Look, I respect that Dan Snyder wants to spend the money on stars that will put people in the stands and hopefully bring home a championship. But Cutler wasn't the answer. Campbell might not be, but he works for us right now. Let him get used to Jim Zorn's system. How about he spends more than a year in it? I think that would be a good thing for him. He has similar numbers to Cutler and doesn't whine. He also doesn't have diabetes and isn't rumored to be an alcoholic. He is becoming a leader. I am fine with our JC for the 2009 NFL season. We didn't need to bring another JC from the Broncos.

As for what the Bears and Broncos do now- The Broncos have a lot of picks, a lot of holes, and a brand new QB battle on their hands. Its Orton vs. Chris Simms for the time being, with a chance that they draft the best available QB (Mark Sanchez) with their pick, #12 overall. I say move on with the QBs you have unless you really love Sanchez, and fill up the amazingly big holes you have on defense. There will be good players available at #12 and #18.

The Bears may be a true contender now. Maybe. Possibly. Don't quote me on that. Their defense is still great, but is getting old fast. Their wide receivers are also-rans, so they might want to address that in free agency (Tory Holt anyone?) or the draft (not sure who will be there in the second round, will look it up). They also signed Orlando Pace today, helping to sure up their O-line. If Cutler can mesh with his receivers, and JFLANland fantasy favorite Matt Forte can have a solid sophomore season, then the Bears could be in the running to win the NFC North in 2009.

Work

Sorry for the little break, but this whole working every day thing hampers my blogging ability. But now it is the weekend and that means alot more will come.
