A Plea to the NFL World, In Response to Chad Dukes

I wrote this on Facebook originally, so I apologize for the formatting. Just hoping everyone might understand why we shouldn't fly off the hook about sports like Chad Dukes did. Enjoy the hyperbole!

After listening to Chad Dukes' rant about the Skins, I want something to happen: The radio announcers for all teams that have never won a Super Bowl have to go at least twice as long and twice as loud. That means you Eagles, Texans, Vikings, Bengals, Browns, Jags, Panthers, Cardinals, Seahwaks, Titans, Lions, Falcons, Chargers, and Bills. Do it!

Or, we could just limit it to teams that have won less Super Bowls than the Redskins, so add in the Saints, Bucs, Colts, Jets, Ravens, Rams, Chiefs, Bears, Dolphins, and Broncos.

    • And throw in the teams that have more, but are having very disappointing seasons so far, which means adding the Cowboys and 49ers.

Plus, you could put a team in that has the same number, and also suffered an embarrassing loss on Sunday (to a rookie head coach in his first game, no less). So, there you go Giants.

Hell, you can throw in the Steelers, who have more Super Bowls but got destroyed Sunday night. Their fans deserve reparations too.

So, really, the only fans who can be happy right now, and the only happy sports radio DJs, are those that follow the Patriots, Packers, and (suprisingly enough) Raiders. They have 3 Super Bowls each, are tied for first place in their divisions, and didn't lose in week 10.

    • But clearly, it is the end of the world for every other team, especially the Redskins as Mr. Dukes points out, so the bad 29 teams need to have a 12-minute rant stating that very fact. I am waiting...

Starting Anew

It has been almost a month since Dad passed away. I know that he would want me to continue this blog, so I will soon.

I have some thoughts on the NFL season (some of my predictions look awesome!), baseball free agency, the NBA and NHL seasons, and a look at Syracuse basketball all coming in the next day or two. This entire blog will now be dedicated to the memory of my Dad, and how he encouraged me to pursue my passion for sports writing. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I will writing it.

Cheers,

Jim
