JFLANland 2025 NFL Mock Draft!

Welcome back, my friends! We have managed to navigate the hellscape that is 2025 and have made it to the three best days of the year-  the 2025 NFL Draft!  Each year, I remember I had a sports blog once, and decide to find my center by spending a few days doing a mock of all 7 rounds of the Draft.  This year’s was a doozy because I have absolutely no idea what will happen.  There have been no first-round trades.  There aren’t top flight QBs. Prospects 5-55 are roughly the same grade.  So, it should be a blast! As always, I don't project any trades, though I imagine there will be a number of them once the Draft starts. What does your team need?  Where will your favorite college players go? Here are my answers.  Hope you enjoy!  With that being said, the Tennessee Titans are on the clock!

Round 1

1) Tennessee Titans- Cam Ward, QB, Miami

Pretty simple, here.  Cam Ward may not be the best prospect in the Draft, but he is projected to be the best QB.  We have seen how even decent QB play can turn a middling team into a playoff contender, and great QB play turn a good team into a Super Bowl champion.  The Titans hope that Ward can be their best QB since the late Steve McNair.

2) Cleveland Browns- Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

The unicorn goes at #2.  Yes, the Browns need QB help, but I think they will get by with Pickett/Flacco to start and add another one later (spoiler). Travis Hunter might be both the best WR and best CB in the Draft.  We will see how long he can play both ways, but this seems like a slam dunk pick.

3) New York Giants- Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

Personally, as a fan of a team that plays in the same division as the Giants, I don’t want to see Abdul Carter lining up in for them. The top pass rusher on almost everyone’s board can end up being a game-changing edge rusher and give QBs nightmares. It isn’t the Giants’ biggest need, but the talent is too good to pass up.

4) New England Patriots- Will Campbell, OT/G, LSU

I think Pats fans are desperate for Hunter or Carter to fall to them.  Unfortunately, both are off the board here.  Instead of making a splashy pick, they go with the safe choice in Will Campbell.  Questions about his arm length are likely overblown, considering he shined in SEC play for multiple years.  He will be then anchor of a revamped OL tasked with keeping franchise QB Drake Maye upright in his second season.

5) Jacksonville Jaguars- Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

Every mock draft has this pick. Why should I be different?  The Jags need help on both sides of the ball, but their run game isn’t really the issue, so Jeanty doesn’t make sense. Instead, they go with the best defensive prospect available in Graham, who has been a projected Top 5 pick all year. That said, maybe this is where the first shocker of the night happens.

6) Las Vegas Raiders- Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

Pete Carroll gets his new Marshawn Lynch. Ashton Jeanty is a special RB, and can immediately help an anemic Raiders offense.  Geno Smith will have a reliable run game to fall back on, which will only help the passing game in the long term. This is a no-brainer.

7) New York Jets- Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

Last year, the Jets drafted my Gonzaga College High School boy Olu Fashanu.  Due to injuries to their OL, Fashanu played all over the line.  Entering his second year, Fashanu should be the incumbent left tackle, and the Jets add Membou (a career right tackle) to anchor the other side of the line. It will be a better line that Justin Fields has ever played behind, and with quality RBs and a star receiver as well.  Maybe the Jets can be good?

8) Carolina Panthers- Jalon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

Former GM and analyst Mike Mayock says he has higher grade for Jalon Walker than he has for Abdul Carter.  If that ends up being true, then this would be a coup for the Panthers, who lost their main pass rushers in Brian Burns and Frankie Luvu to the Giants and Commanders before last season. They had no pass rush, so Walker would be an immediate upgrade.

9) New Orleans Saints- Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

So… I don’t really feel confident in this pick. The commentary about Shedeur is all over the place, but here is what we know- Derek Carr might be out for the season. Spencer Rattler was fine last year, but by no means a sure thing.  Kellen Moore is the new coach, and may want to be tied to “his QB”. Is that Sanders? Is that Dart? Is that Rattler?  I have no idea. If Sheduer doesn’t go here, expect quite a slide.

10) Chicago Bears- Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas

Last year, instead of selecting Olu Fashanu (Caleb Williams’ high school teammate), the Bears took Rome Odunze. Rome didn’t do much his rookie year, but you can’t really blame him, cause Caleb was always on his back cause his OL was garbage. So, Ben Johnson remembers that a great OL can allow an offense to flourish like it did in Detroit, and the Bears select Banks, the best OT available.

11) San Francisco 49ers- Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

Will Johnson was a projected Top 5 pick before the season, and still was before he got hurt.  He decided to shut it down and not risk aggravating the injury for a meh Michigan team. It is possible that hurt his stock a bit, but he still could be a steal sliding out of the Top 10.  Assuming he is healthy, he could be the best CB in the Draft.

12) Dallas Cowboys- Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

Ah, the Cowboys. Their offseason has been a circus. At the very least, they could save it with a good draft. They need more weapons on offense.  I have seen many people mock Matthew Golden and his speed here, but I think the massive Tet McMillan is the better compliment to CeeDee Lamb’s speed. He can be a great red zone target, and is effective enough in the open field to demand attention, opening the game up for Lamb even more.

13) Miami Dolphins- Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas

The Dolphins are in the process of getting rid of Jalen Ramsey, so CB just became their top need, especially with the top OTs off the board. Barron can step in and be a “big nickel” right now, with the ability to move to the outside.  He has the thump to move to safety if needed, as well.

14) Indianapolis Colts- Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

It seems like the Colts have been looking for the next Dallas Clark for years, and they get him in Warren.  Warren is a do-everything tight end.  He can block. He can catch. He can run. He can even throw. If he is on the board, the Colts sprint the card up to the desk.

15) Atlanta Falcons- Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall

Stop me if you have heard this one before- The Falcons need pass rush help.  Same as it ever was.  Mike Green is the best edge rusher available based on talent and production. He will immediately be their best rusher, and will hopefully fill the void that has been there for so long.

16) Arizona Cardinals- Matthew Golden, WR, Texas

Marvin Harrison Jr was… fine.  So, how do you maximize his ability?  By putting a dynamic a speedy WR opposite him.  Matthew Golden stepped up and made big plays for the Longhorns when it mattered most. He has great hands, great route running ability, and 4.3 speed. The Cardinals offense could be scary with this pick.

17) Cincinnati Bengals- Shemar Stewart, Edge, Texas A&M

The Bengals decided to spend all their money on offense, to the point where they have pissed off Trey Hendrickson, who wants to be traded. Really, the entire Bengals draft could/should be defense, because they couldn’t stop anyone this year. They start by getting Stewart, and classic big edge rusher with a ton of potential to be a game-wrecker.

18) Seattle Seahawks- Grey Zabel, G/C, North Dakota State

Seattle has a new QB in Sam Darnold. They could get him another weapon to replace DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett, but I have them grabbing the best interior lineman in the Draft in Zabel. He can play all 5 OL positions, but I think he starts at guard first.  Keeping Darnold safe and grinding open lanes for their RBs will be a big boost in a competitive NFC West.

19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama

Lavonte David has been the anchor of the Bucs’ defense for years, but is 35 now.  The Bucs need to find his successor, and Jihaad Campbell is the answer.  A smart, physical linebacker, Campbell can learn from one of the best before taking over the defense in the future.

20) Denver Broncos- Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina

The Broncos running game isn’t good.  It got by, sure, but if they had a dynamic back like Omarion Hampton, it would make that offense so much better.  Here, he falls to Denver, and they immediately upgrade their RB room.

21) Pittsburgh Steelers- Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon

It should be a QB. Really. If Sanders fell to 21, he would be the pick.  I wouldn’t be shocked if it is Jaxson Dart. Or, maybe the Steelers want to think about having a bad year and getting someone from the QB class next year. Any of these options would be better than what they might do, which is kowtow to Aaron Rodgers’ idiocy. Since I expect them to be dumb and do just that, I have them taking the best DL available in Harmon. He is a player worthy of this pick, and will help the Steelers in the long run. He just isn’t a QB.

22) Los Angeles Chargers- Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

Quick, name the pass catchers on the Chargers besides Ladd McConkey… Exactly. Jim Harbaugh goes back to one of his guys from Michigan, getting a mismatch machine in Loveland.  He and Warren are 1 and 1A in TE grading. Loveland is massive, has great ball skills, and is comped to Sam LaPorta.  Any offense, especially one with so few weapons, would want that.

23) Green Bay Packers- Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia

The Packers need help off the edge, and are a good enough team where they can take a gamble on a player like Williams.  He has all the talent and ability in the world, but never fully reached his potential at Georgia. A true upside player, he could be fantastic with the right coaching and more reps.

24) Minnesota Vikings- Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina

We have entered “Trade Back” territory. The Vikings only have four picks in this year’s Draft, so if they are comfortable, they would happily move back and pick up some extra selections. Since I don’t project trades, I have them taking the best player available in Emmanwori. He can be Harrison Smith’s successor at safety.

25) Houston Texans- Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State

CJ Stroud didn’t have the best sophomore campaign, even if the Texans did win the AFC South again. One of the reasons? Terrible OL play.  With their only quality lineman now playing in DC, fortifying their front is the most important need.  Josh Simmons could have been the first tackle taken if it wasn’t for his injury. Assuming he will be healthy for the season, he is a no-brainer.

26) Los Angeles Rams- Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky

I have seen some mocks project a QB here, to be the heir apparent to Matthew Stafford’s throne. I think the Rams want to use this pick for a player that can help them win now. They were the only team who came close to beating the Eagles in the playoffs. Adding a fast ballhawk corner like Hairston could help put them over the top.

27) Baltimore Ravens- Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss

For once, it was the Ravens defense that let them down last season.  Lamar and King Henry were clicking on all cylinders. With some FA losses, and big contracts coming up after this season (and seeing what the Eagles front did to the KC offense), the Ravens add another big body up front. Nolen is a first-team All-American with all the traits the Ravens love in their defensive players.

28) Detroit Lions- Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College

The Lions could use another pass-rusher opposite a returning Aiden Hutchinson. Ezeiruaku is the best available option. Winner of the Top DE of the Year award and a first-team All-American, he brings natural pass-rushing ability and football intelligence that will play well for the Lions.

29) Washington Commanders- James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee

If I was projecting trades, there would be no chance my Commanders select here.  They almost certainly will look to trade back and add more picks, both this year and next year.  It is nice to be in a position to do so, based off the amazing year Jayden Daniels and the team had. But, again, I don’t project trades, so instead they take Pearce to put opposite Dorance Armstrong on the edge. Another raw upside talent from the SEC, he has all the natural ability to thrive in the NFL.  He just needs the coaching Dan Quinn should be able to give him.

30) Buffalo Bills- Malaki Starks, S, Georgia

The Bills need some help in the secondary to hopefully get them over that final hump.  The talent at CB is fine at this point in the draft, but Starks sliding to 30 is a steal for the Bills.  They add him as an immediate and consistent leader on the back end of their defense.

31) Kansas City Chiefs- Josh Conerly Jr., OT, Oregon

Can you really be considered close to the GOAT when you have been embarrassed twice in Super Bowls by more physical teams? Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense got bullied by the Eagles in February. It was never even close. They pick Conerly, the best offensive lineman available, to try to re-establish their dominance.

32) Philadelphia Eagles- Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan

The Champs don’t really have a ton of holes to fill, which is a bit annoying.  Still, Milton Williams went to New England, so there is a hole on that dominant defensive line.  Enter Kenneth Grant, who didn’t get the same hype as Mason Graham, but is bigger and can make it impossible for anyone to run up the middle against that Philly line.

Round 2

33) Cleveland Browns- Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss

I am fairly certain a pick like this will happen in Round 1, even though I don’t think Dart is worthy of that pick right now. He just needs some development, so having a year to sit behind Pickett and Flacco wouldn’t be a bad thing.

34) New York Giants- Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville

Personally, I don’t get the hype for Shough. He was fine. Kyle McCord, Quinn Ewers, Dillon Gabriel, etc, were all better. Either way, the Giants will take a QB at some point in the Draft. It could be trading back into Round 1, or taking a project like Shough here. Either way, I envision the Giants being a favorite for a QB in 2026 as well.

35) Tennessee Titans- Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

Starting a mini WR run, the Titans get a disciplined route runner with big play ability in Egbuka, who will become Cam Ward’s favorite target.

36) Jacksonville Jaguars- Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri

If the Commanders trade back into Round 2, and Burden is there, I’d want them to take him. A Deebo-type body, with a player comp to Garrett Wilson, I don’t understand why he is sliding in the eyes of scouts. He has great play-making ability. He just suffered from playing for Mizzou, who had fairly pedestrian QB play. Having him and Brian Thomas should finally get Trevor Lawrence back on track.

37) Las Vegas Raiders- Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State

Name a Raiders WR… Yep. Higgins could immediately become their #1. He has size and great hands. Geno will love him.

38) New England Patriots- Tyler Booker, G, Alabama
39) Chicago Bears (from Panthers)- Treveyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State
40) New Orleans Saints- Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss
41) Chicago Bears- Landon Jackson, Edge, Arkansas
42) New York Jets- Mason Taylor, TE, LSU
43) San Francisco 49ers- Alfred Collins, DT, Texas
44) Dallas Cowboys- Quinshon Judkins, RB, Ohio State

If the Cowboys are able to pull off the McMillan/Judkins combo, their fans should be thrilled.

45) Indianapolis Colts- Donovan Jackson, G, Ohio State
46) Atlanta Falcons- Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State
47) Arizona Cardinals- Azareye'h Thomas, CB, Florida State
48) Miami Dolphins- Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota
49) Cincinnati Bengals- Shavon Revel Jr., CB, East Carolina
50) Seattle Seahawks- Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame
51) Denver Broncos- Jack Bech, WR, TCU
52) Seattle Seahawks (from Steelers)- Tre Harris, WR, Ole Miss
53) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Nic Scourton, Edge, Texas A&M
54) Green Bay Packers- Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State
55) Los Angeles Chargers- Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State
56) Buffalo Bills (from Vikings through Texans)- Darius Alexander, DT, Toledo
57) Carolina Panthers (from Rams)- Xavier Watts, S, Notre Dame
58) Houston Texans- Carson Schwesinger, LB, UCLA
59) Baltimore Ravens- Jonah Savaiinaea, G/T, Arizona
60) Detroit Lions- Marcus Mbow, G, Purdue
61) Washington Commanders- Kevin Winston Jr., S, Penn State
62) Buffalo Bills- Jordan Burch, Edge, Oregon
63) Kansas City Chiefs- T.J. Sanders, DT, South Carolina
64) Philadelphia Eagles- Oluwafemi Oladejo, Edge, UCLA

Round 3

65) New York Giants- Ozzy Trapilo, OT, Boston College
66) Kansas City Chiefs (from Titans)- Jalen Royals, WR, Utah State
67) Cleveland Browns- Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa
68) Las Vegas Raiders- Jacob Parrish, CB, Kansas State
69) New England Patriots- Isaiah Bond, WR, Texas
70) Jacksonville Jaguars- Elijah Arroyo, TE, Miami
71) New Orleans Saints- Joshua Farmer, DT, Florida State
72) Chicago Bears- Omarr Norman-Lott, DT, Tennessee
73) New York Jets- Savion Williams, WR, TCU
74) Carolina Panthers- Quincy Riley, CB, Louisville
75) San Francisco 49ers- Anthony Belton, OT/G, NC State
76) Dallas Cowboys- Dorian Strong, CB, Virginia Tech
77) New England Patriots (from Falcons)- Cam Skattebo, RB, Arizona State

A play-making RB to pair with Drake Maye who also happens to have a cool name, plus a few other things that will make him popular in the greater Boston region. This would be a great pick.

78) Arizona Cardinals- JT Tuimoloau, EDGE, Ohio State
79) Houston Texans (from Dolphins through Eagles and Commanders)- Tate Ratledge, G, Georgia
80) Indianapolis Colts- Demetrius Knight Jr., LB, South Carolina
81) Cincinnati Bengals- Ty Robinson, DT, Nebraska
82) Seattle Seahawks- Shemar Turner, DT, Texas A&M
83) Pittsburgh Steelers- Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama

A QB! They may not be able to get Milroe here in Round 3, since teams LOVE his running ability. His passing still needs some work, but if the Steelers are actually willing to be patient with him, this could be a steal.

84) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Jaylen Reed, S, Penn State
85) Denver Broncos- JJ Pegues, DT, Ole Miss
86) Los Angeles Chargers- Josaiah Stewart, EDGE, Michigan
87) Green Bay Packers- Elic Ayomanor, WR, Stanford
88) Jacksonville Jaguars (from Vikings)- Andrew Mukuba, S, Texas
89) Houston Texans- Kyle Williams, WR, Washington State
90) Los Angeles Rams- Barrett Carter, LB, Clemson
91) Baltimore Ravens- Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss
92) Seattle Seahawks (from Lions through Jets and Raiders)- Lathan Ransom, S, Ohio State
93) New Orleans Saints (from Commanders)- Cameron Williams, OT, Texas
94) Cleveland Browns (from Bills)- Charles Grant, OT, William & Mary
95) Kansas City Chiefs- Ashton Gillotte, EDGE, Louisville
96) Philadelphia Eagles- Billy Bowman Jr., S, Oklahoma
97) Minnesota Vikings (Compensatory Selection)- Danny Stutsman, LB, Oklahoma
98) Miami Dolphins (Compensatory Selection)- Jordan Phillips, DT, Maryland
99) New York Giants (Compensatory Selection)- Wyatt Milum, OT/G/C, West Virginia
100) San Francisco 49ers (Special Compensatory Selection)- Dylan Sampson, RB, Tennessee
101) Los Angeles Rams (Special Compensatory Selection)- Terrance Ferguson, TE, Oregon
102) Detroit Lions (Special Compensatory Selection)- Jonas Sanker, S, Virginia

Round 4

103) Tennessee Titans- Jack Sawyer, EDGE, Ohio State
104) Cleveland Browns- Bradyn Swinson, EDGE, LSU
105) New York Giants- Ty Hamilton, DT, Ohio State
106) New England Patriots- Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Bowling Green
107) Jacksonville Jaguars- Upton Stout, CB, Western Kentucky
108) Las Vegas Raiders- Jared Wilson, C, Georgia
109) Buffalo Bills (from Bears)- Nohl Williams, CB, Cal
110) New York Jets- Deone Walker, DT, Kentucky
111) Carolina Panthers- Tory Horton, WR, Colorado State
112) New Orleans Saints- Jaylin Lane, WR, Virginia Tech
113) San Francisco 49ers- Jared Ivey, Edge, Ole Miss
114) Carolina Panthers (from Cowboys)- Gunnar Helm, TE, Texas
115) Arizona Cardinals- Miles Frazier, G, LSU
116) Miami Dolphins- Oronde Gadsden II, TE, Syracuse
117) Indianapolis Colts- Kyle Kennard, EDGE, South Carolina
118) Atlanta Falcons- Dylan Fairchild, G, Georgia
119) Cincinnati Bengals- R.J. Mickens, S, Clemson
120) Tennessee Titans (from Seahawks)- Chris Paul Jr., LB, Ole Miss
121) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Caleb Ransaw, CB, Tulane
122) Denver Broncos- Tez Johnson, WR, Oregon

This is a pick that has to happen somewhere in the Draft. Tez Johnson is essentially Bo Nix’s adopted brother, as he lived with his HS teammate and his family since the age of 15. They were teammates at Oregon as well.  I hope this happens for them. It will be the feel-good moment of the Draft.

123) Pittsburgh Steelers- Bhayshul Tuten, RB, Virginia Tech
124) Green Bay Packers- Emery Jones Jr., OT, LSU
125) Los Angeles Chargers- LeQuint Allen, RB, Syracuse

Not the first Orange player off the board, but I think this is a perfect fit for LQA’s three-down ability.

126) Jacksonville Jaguars (from Vikings)- Logan Brown, OT, Kansas
127) Los Angeles Rams- Kyle McCord, QB, Syracuse

Another Orange player to LA. As I said in Round 1, the Rams may start thinking about the succession plan at QB. McCord could be that answer. He has won everywhere he has been, and set the ACC passing record in his one year at Syracuse.

128) Washington Commanders (from Texans)- Dont'e Thornton Jr., WR, Tennessee
129) Baltimore Ravens- Smael Mondon Jr., LB, Georgia
130) Detroit Lions- Chimere Dike, WR, Florida
131) New Orleans Saints (from Commanders)- Jalen Rivers, G, Miami
132) Buffalo Bills- Xavier Restrepo, WR, Miami
133) Kansas City Chiefs- Devin Neal, RB, Kansas
134) Philadelphia Eagles (reacquired through Lions)- Jackson Slater, G, Sacramento State
135) Miami Dolphins (Compensatory Selection)- Sebastian Castro, S, Iowa
136) Baltimore Ravens (Compensatory Selection)- Denzel Burke, CB, Ohio State
137) Seattle Seahawks (Compensatory Selection)- Will Howard, QB, Ohio State

While Sam Darnold is the new QB in Seattle, they do need some depth.  Howard was surrounded by weapons at Ohio State. Can he duplicate that kind of success in the NFL?

138) San Francisco 49ers (Compensatory Selection)- Joe Huber, G, Wisconsin

Round 5

139) Minnesota Vikings (from Browns)- Cobee Bryant, CB, Kansas
140) Carolina Panthers (from Giants)- Vernon Broughton, DT, Texas
141) Tennessee Titans- Dante Trader Jr., S, Maryland
142) Jacksonville Jaguars- Chase Lundt, OT, UConn
143) Las Vegas Raiders- Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

The Raiders bring in Ewers to back up Geno and grow in the system. Raiders part-owner Tom Brady knows something about being a successful college QB who gets drafted late, right?

144) New England Patriots- David Walker, Edge, Central Arkansas
145) New York Jets- Jaylin Smith, CB, USC
146) Carolina Panthers- Cody Simon, LB, Ohio State
147) San Francisco 49ers (from Saints through Commanders)- Jeffrey Bassa, LB, Oregon
148) Chicago Bears- Malik Verdon, S, Iowa State
149) Dallas Cowboys- Cam Jackson, DT, Florida
150) Miami Dolphins- Seth McLaughlin, C/G, Ohio State
151) Indianapolis Colts- RJ Harvey, RB, UCF
152) Arizona Cardinals- Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon
153) Cincinnati Bengals- Jack Nelson, OT/G, Wisconsin
154) New York Giants (from Seahawks)- Tai Felton, WR, Maryland
155) Miami Dolphins (from Broncos)- Jack Kiser, LB, Notre Dame
156) Pittsburgh Steelers- Carson Vinson, OT, Alabama A&M
157) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Mitchell Evans, TE, Notre Dame
158) Los Angeles Chargers- Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, DT/E, Georgia
159) Green Bay Packers- Aeneas Peebles, DT, Virginia Tech
160) San Francisco 49ers (from Vikings)- Ricky White III, WR, UNLV
161) Philadelphia Eagles (from Texans)- Jackson Hawes, TE, Georgia Tech
162) New York Jets (from Rams through Steelers)- Hunter Wohler, S, Wisconsin
163) Carolina Panthers (from Ravens)- Sai'vion Jones, Edge, LSU
164) Philadelphia Eagles (from Lions through Browns)- Zy Alexander, CB, LSU
165) Philadelphia Eagles (from Commanders)- Nick Nash, WR, San Jose State
166) Houston Texans (from Bills)- CJ West, DT, Indiana
167) Tennessee Titans (from Chiefs)- Jake Briningstool, TE/FB, Clemson
168) Philadelphia Eagles- Barryn Sorrell, Edge, Texas
169) Buffalo Bills (Compensatory Selection)- Shemar James, LB, Florida
170) Buffalo Bills (from Cowboys; Compensatory Selection)- Jonah Monheim, C, USC
171) New England Patriots (from Cowboys; Compensatory Selection)- Jared Harrison-Hunte, DT, SMU
172) Seattle Seahawks (Compensatory Selection)- Ajani Cornelius, OT, Oregon
173) Buffalo Bills (Compensatory Selection)- Jordan James, RB, Oregon
174) Dallas Cowboys (Compensatory Selection)- Nick Martin, LB, Oklahoma State
175) Seattle Seahawks (Compensatory Selection)- Luke Lachey, TE, Iowa
176) Baltimore Ravens (Compensatory Selection)- Maxen Hook, S, Toledo

Round 6

177) Buffalo Bills (from Giants)- Riley Leonard, QB, Notre Dame

Leonard runs like Josh Allen.  He doesn’t throw like him, but few do.  He could also be used in a gadget/slash way, a la Taysom Hill.

178) Tennessee Titans- Rylie Mills, DT, Notre Dame
179) Cleveland Browns- Joshua Gray, G, Oregon State
180) Las Vegas Raiders- Kobe King, LB, Penn State
181) Los Angeles Chargers (from Patriots)- Bilhal Kone, CB, Western Michigan
182) Jacksonville Jaguars- Cody Lindenberg, LB, Minnesota
183) Baltimore Ravens (from Panthers)- Andres Borregales, PK, Miami (FL)

KICKER! With Justin Tucker’s on-field struggles and accused off-field issues, it may be time for the Ravens to move on. They take the best kicker in the class here.

184) New Orleans Saints (reacquired through Commanders)- Trevor Etienne, RB, Georgia
185) Pittsburgh Steelers (from Bears through Seahawks)- Xavier Truss, G, Georgia
186) New York Jets- Willie Lampkin, G, North Carolina
187) Minnesota Vikings (from 49ers)- DJ Giddens, RB, Kansas State
188) Tennessee Titans (from Cowboys)- Bru McCoy, WR, Tennessee
189) Indianapolis Colts- Jalen Travis, OT, Iowa State
190) Los Angeles Rams (from Falcons)- Isaac TeSlaa, WR, Arkansas

Will he get sued for his name? Or will Elon just try to profit off of Isaac’s success?

191) Denver Broncos (from Cardinals)- Tommi Hill, CB, Nebraska
192) Cleveland Browns (from Dolphins through Bears)- Kain Medrano, LB, UCLA
193) Cincinnati Bengals- Eugene Asante, LB, Auburn
194) Jacksonville Jaguars (from Seahawks)- Fadil Diggs, EDGE, Syracuse
195) Los Angeles Rams (from Steelers)- Caleb Rogers, OT/G, Texas Tech
196) Detroit Lions (from Buccaneers)- Nazir Stackhouse, DT, Georgia
197) Denver Broncos- Jalin Conyers, TE, Texas Tech
198) Green Bay Packers- Damien Martinez, RB, Miami
199) Los Angeles Chargers- Jay Toia, DT, UCLA
200) Cleveland Browns (from Vikings)- Thomas Fidone II, TE, Nebraska
201) Los Angeles Rams- Yahya Black, DT, Iowa
202) Los Angeles Rams (from Texans through Steelers and Bears)- Malachi Moore, S, Alabama
203) Baltimore Ravens- Brashard Smith, RB, SMU
204) Dallas Cowboys (from Lions through Browns and Bills)- Drew Kendall, C, Boston College
205) Washington Commanders- BJ Adams, CB, UCF
206) Buffalo Bills- Zah Frazier, CB, UTSA
207) New York Jets (from Chiefs)- Arian Smith, WR, Georgia
208) Denver Broncos (from Eagles)- Jake Majors, C, Texas
209) Los Angeles Chargers (Compensatory Selection)- Garrett Dellinger, G, LSU
210) Baltimore Ravens (Compensatory Selection)- Pat Bryant, WR, Illinois
211) Dallas Cowboys (Compensatory Selection)- Que Robinson, EDGE, Alabama
212) Baltimore Ravens (Compensatory Selection)- Hollin Pierce, OT, Rutgers
213) Las Vegas Raiders (Compensatory Selection)- Alijah Clark, S, Syracuse
214) Los Angeles Chargers (Compensatory Selection)- Ja'Corey Brooks, WR, Louisville
215) Las Vegas Raiders (Compensatory Selection)- Tim Smith, DT, Alabama
216) Cleveland Browns (Compensatory Selection)- Howard Cross III, DT, Notre Dame

Round 7

217) Dallas Cowboys (from Titans through Patriots)- Kitan Crawford, S, Nevada
218) Atlanta Falcons (from Browns through Chargers)- Mac McWilliams, CB, UCF
219) New York Giants- Jalen McLeod, LB, Auburn
220) New England Patriots- Jordan Hancock, CB, Ohio State
221) Jacksonville Jaguars- Jaydon Blue, RB, Texas
222) Las Vegas Raiders- Kobe Hudson, WR, UCF
223) Seattle Seahawks (from Saints through Eagles and Steelers)- Antwaun Powell-Ryland, Edge, Virginia Tech
224) Miami Dolphins (from Bears)- Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oregon

Might as well draft a slightly-undersized lefty QB to back up a slightly-undersized lefty QB, right? Gabriel has elite production, as well, and fewer concussions than Tua.

225) Arizona Cardinals (from Jets through Chiefs)- Francisco Mauigoa, LB, Miami
226) Kansas City Chiefs (from Panthers)- Clay Webb, OL, Jacksonville State
227) San Francisco 49ers- CJ Dippre, TE, Alabama
228) Detroit Lions (from Cowboys)- Myles Hinton, OT, Michigan
229) Pittsburgh Steelers (from Falcons through Eagles)- Elijhah Badger, WR, Florida
230) Carolina Panthers (from Cardinals)- Woody Marks, RB, USC
231) Miami Dolphins- Tonka Hemingway, DT, South Carolina
232) Indianapolis Colts- Cam Horsley, DT, Boston College
233) Chicago Bears (from Bengals)- Da'Quan Felton, WR, Virginia Tech
234) Seattle Seahawks- Jarquez Hunter, RB, Auburn
235) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Eli Cox, C, Kentucky
236) Houston Texans (from Broncos through Eagles and Commanders)- Mello Dotson, CB, Kansas
237) Green Bay Packers (from Steelers)- Hayden Conner, G, Texas
238) New England Patriots (from Chargers)- Collin Oliver, LB, Oklahoma State
239) Dallas Cowboys (from Packers through Titans)- Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, OT, Florida
240) Chicago Bears (from Vikings through Browns)- Jason Marshall Jr., CB, Florida
241) Houston Texans- Rayuan Lane III, S, Navy
242) Atlanta Falcons (from Rams)- Dan Jackson, S, Georgia
243) Baltimore Ravens- Tyler Baron, EDGE, Miami
244) Detroit Lions- Teddye Buchanan, LB, Cal
245) Washington Commanders- Branson Taylor, OT/G, Pittsburgh
246) New York Giants (from Bills)- Robert Longerbeam, CB, Rutgers
247) Dallas Cowboys (from Chiefs through Panthers)- Sam Brown Jr., WR, Miami
248) New Orleans Saints (from Eagles through Commanders)- Jay Higgins, LB, Iowa
249) San Francisco 49ers (Compensatory Selection)- Kurtis Rourke, QB, Indiana

In case the 49ers don’t extend Purdy, they can take another 7th round QB here.

250) Green Bay Packers (Compensatory Selection)- Elijah Roberts, EDGE, SMU
251) Kansas City Chiefs (Compensatory Selection)- O'Donnell Fortune, CB, South Carolina
252) San Francisco 49ers (Compensatory Selection)- Justin Barron, S/LB, Syracuse
253) Miami Dolphins (Compensatory Selection)- Tahj Brooks, RB, Texas Tech
254) New Orleans Saints (Compensatory Selection)- Jimmy Horn Jr., WR, Colorado
255) Cleveland Browns (Compensatory Selection)- Jah Joyner, EDGE, Minnesota
256) Los Angeles Chargers (Compensatory Selection)- Kalel Mullings, RB, Michigan
257) Kansas City Chiefs (Compensatory Selection)- Craig Woodson, S, Cal

And there we are!  Thank you so much for reading.  As I said, I do this to re-center myself, almost as a form of meditation. With the world on fire, and after a number of difficult years, small things like this that bring happiness to me (and maybe you) should be celebrated.

Let me know what you think of the mock.  Did your team get the players you wanted?  Do you think trades will happen?  I’d love to hear from you all.  Until next time, be well, and enjoy the Draft!

JFLANland 2024 NFL Mock Draft!

The greatest three days of the calendar year have returned!  It is the 2024 NFL Draft!  Hello again, friends.  It is that time of year when I remember I have this little site, spend a few days doing a mock of all 7 rounds of the Draft, and then seeing how all the chips fall.  As always, I don't project any trades, though I anticipate there being a ton of them Thursday night. What does your team need?  Where will your favorite college players go? Here are my answers.  Hope you enjoy!  The Chicago Bears are on the clock:

Round 1

1) Chicago Bears (from Carolina)- Caleb Williams, QB, USC

There is no secret or surprise here.  Caleb Williams is the best QB prospect we have seen in a few years.  He can do it all.  He won a Heisman.  He made a subpar USC team competitive. The Bears get their franchise QB, and they will be thrilled to have him.  As an aside, as a fellow alum of Gonzaga College High School, I am so proud of Caleb.  Not just of everything he has done on the field, but the man he is off of the field.  His charity is great. His commitment to his family is wonderful.  The Bears are getting a great person and a great player.

2) Washington Commanders- Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

Hey. No Dan Snyder! Now, the Commanders just need their new face of the franchise, and they get him in Jayden Daniels.  Comps to Lamar Jackson are very exciting. He had an exceptional year, putting up big numbers and winning the Heisman. He fits into Kliff Kingsbury's offense well. As long as he can limit the big hits he takes, he can be the guy for years in DC.

3) New England Patriots- Drake Maye, QB, UNC

Well, Mac Jones didn't work out. I guess deciding not to actually have an offensive coordinator hurts. With Belichick now gone, New England resets with Maye as their QB of the future.  That said, I think he sits the first few weeks, since Jacoby Brissett is a capable bridge starter. Maye is prospect 2A, along with Daniels. He can do it all, even though he wasn't as great this past year as the year before.  If the Patriots can surround him with pieces, he will be fine.

4) Arizona Cardinals- Marvin Harrison Jr, WR, Ohio State

This has to be the pick.  I don't think the Cardinals will trade out, just because MHJr is that good.  He can be the new Larry Fitzgerald, and that will make Kyler Murray very happy. Elite size, elite ability, elite production.  It is a no-brainer pick.

5) Los Angeles Chargers- Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

Were I to project trades, this is likely the first place I've had one. I think that John Harbaugh would love to get Harrison, but with gone, the Chargers would be more willing to listen to a team that needs a QB. In this mock, though, they stay here and take the #2 WR on the board in Nabers.  WR is a position of need after Mike Williams and Keenan Allen left.  Nabers was super-productive, and will immediately be Justin Herbert's #1 target.

6) New York Giants- Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

Call me crazy for not having a QB go here, but I just think the Giants will run it back for one more year with Daniel Jones, Tommy Devito, and Drew Lock, mainly because of all the cash invested in Jones. So, they instead get the best offensive weapon available in Odunze.  He helped make Michael Penix look great with his ability, and the Giants don't have anything close to a #1 WR. He will be a team leader like he was at UW as well, and can help reboot that offense.

7) Tennessee Titans- Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame

Another no-brainer pick here.  The Titans have an obvious need at LT, and Joe Alt is the best all-around offensive line prospect. Putting him at the LT next to 2023 first round pick and left guard Peter Skoronski will help protect Will Levis' blind side for years to come.

8) Atlanta Falcons- Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama

Before free agency, the Falcons were one of those QB-needy teams.  Enter Kirk Cousins (possibly because of tampering?), and now Atlanta can take the best defensive player in the draft.  Turner is a monster off the edge, and can immediately become the best pass rusher (and maybe best player) on the Falcons' defense.

9) Chicago Bears- Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State

The Bears are back on the clock.  They have already added Keenan Allen in the offseason.  They added D'Andre Swift.  They have weapons for Caleb Williams.  And, with the top 3 WRs off the board, it is very likely that they'd trade out of this pick. Wherever they end up drafting, I think they will now do the smart thing and get an OT to protect their QB's blindside.  Why not pick the guy who blocked for Caleb in high school?  Yes, I am reuniting Caleb with his Gonzaga College High School teammate, Olu Fashanu.  Olu was phenomenal at Penn State, and might have the absolute highest ceiling of any tackle prospect. I just thinks this makes the most sense, and would make me really happy.

10) New York Jets- Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

The Jets are still all-in with Aaron Rodgers, and they have an excellent defense, so they need to get the best weapon available for their old QB. Brock Bowers, when healthy, was essentially a cheat code.  He is big, fast, and has fantastic hands.  He can't be guarded by linebackers, so he can open up the pass game due to at least a safety having to be on him full time.  NYJ fans will be very happy, as long as Rodgers' legs don't explode again.

11) Minnesota Vikings- JJ McCarthy, QB, Michigan

There is essentially no chance that the Vikings will be making this pick at 11.  They acquired an extra 1st in order to move up.  But, again, I don't project trades, so I have them drafting the best QB available here with JJ McCarthy.  To be honest, the more I hear JJ in interviews, the more I like him.  I think he has all the ability of the top guys, even though he wasn't necessarily asked to demonstrate it this past year.  Still, he can make every throw, was a leader of the National Champions, and can come in and take that starting job.  Having Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison there to throw to will certainly help his development.

12) Denver Broncos- Bo Nix, QB, Oregon

Spoiler alert- I don't think Zach Wilson will be the starting QB of the Broncos next year.  While a fresh start will be good for him, Sean Payton will want his guy. Bo Nix fits that mold and that offense. With comps to Drew Brees and Tony Romo, Nix can definitely play in the NFL.  He also has a ton of college experience, and has met with the Broncos more than any other QB.  It makes sense.

13) Las Vegas Raiders- JC Latham, OT, Alabama

The Raiders could be in play to try to get a QB.  In fact, if you look a little further down, I have them getting one in Round 2 (again, no trade projections). So, they instead fill a big need at right tackle with Latham.  He is the #1 right tackle prospect, and will be a plug-and-play starter opposite Kolton Miller.

14) New Orleans Saints- Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State

The Saints need help at both tackles.  While they say they haven't given up on 2022 #1 pick Trevor Penning at LT, RT Ryan Ramczyk is hurt all the time.  They take Fuaga, a mauling right tackle who can give them options along the line to protect their investment in Derek Carr.

15) Indianapolis Colts- Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo

The Colts did a great job of re-signing some of their big free agents, so the biggest hole that remains on their roster is a cornerback.  Quinyon Mitchell has it all.  He has size at 6'. He has speed, with a 4.33 40 yard dash.  He has strength, with 20 reps of 225 at the combine. As his prospect page says, "He is built like a RB, tackles like a safety, and has the ball skills of a cornerback."  That's pretty damn good.

16) Seattle Seahawks- Troy Fautanu, OT/G, Washington

Every now and then, a team takes a local prospect and it is a perfect fit.  The Seahawks' biggest draft need is on the offensive line, and Fautanu is the best prospect available.  He also has position flexibility, having played some guard in his time at UW, along with being a top tackle prospect. He can instantly come in and anchor the line for the new coaching regime in Seattle.

17) Jacksonville Jaguars- Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

The Jags' GM, Trent Baalke, said point-blank that cornerback is the biggest team need. The best prospect available at the position is Arnold from Alabama. Arnold was a first-team All-American, leader of the Alabama defense, and comps to Marshon Lattimore. He is also an excellent human being.  Do yourself a favor and go find any interview where he is talking about his family, especially the clip from the Combine of him discussing his mother.  He is the kind of guy you root for, and you hope your team drafts.

18) Cincinnati Bengals- Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas

The Bengals were terrible at stopping the run last year, and that was with DJ Reader on the team.  Now, he is in Detroit, so the Bengals need to fill that space in the defensive line.  Murphy is ready to step in to the middle of the line, either at nose over the center or as a 3-technique, and cause havoc to opposing offensive lines.

19) Los Angeles Rams- Jared Verse, DE, Florida State

The retirement of Aaron Donald just leaves a massive hole in the Rams' pass rush.  He was able to generate pressure for them, even when they didn't have the best guys rushing off of the edge.  Now that he is gone, the Rams need someone to recreate that pressure, but now from the outside.  Jared Verse was the star of an excellent Seminoles defense.  He will bring that explosiveness that the Rams need.

20) Pittsburgh Steelers- Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

The Steelers made huge moves this offseason, bringing in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to their QB room. Even though they traded Dionte Johnson, I think they take a lineman in order to protect their QB investments.  Mims is a HUGE tackle with excellent technique, but only 8 career starts.  Still, he can learn on the job, and make life hell for the talented edge rushers in the AFC North.

21) Miami Dolphins- Graham Barton, C, Duke

The Dolphins need help all along their offensive line.  A prospect like Graham Barton would be a perfect fit.  While he mainly played left tackle at Duke, he is being projected as a center in the NFL.  Still that position versatility, and the fact that he is as consistent a blocker as you will see in college football, makes him a valuable piece to protect Tua.

22) Philadelphia Eagles- Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson

It would be really easy just to have a Georgia player here, since the Eagles always seem to load up on Dawgs.  However, Nate Wiggins is graded higher at the biggest position of need.  The Eagles secondary wasn't great last year, and lacks depth.  Wiggins can come in and help immediately, with great size and speed.

23) Minnesota Vikings (from Cleveland through Houston)- Jer'Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois

Again, the Vikings likely won't be making this pick, since they will trade up for a QB.  But, if they do end up taking it, they will fill a big hole on their defensive like with Newton.  Newton, the Big 10 DPOY and first-team All-American, will inject youth and energy to both their pass rush and run defense.

24) Dallas Cowboys- Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma

Well, Jerry Jones said the Cowboys were all in.  That apparently means not signing free agents or extending players, so they will just hope they draft well.  Adding Guyton to their OL would be a great start.  He is a prospect on the rise. While he has mainly played right tackle, I think he may swing to the other side and replace Tyrone Smith on Dak's blind side.

25) Green Bay Packers- Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa

The Packers surprised everyone last year, making it to the playoffs and thwomping Dallas.  Now, they only need to fill some position holes on their roster in order to continue their success. DeJean would be able to fit into multiple spots in the Green Bay secondary.  He can play corner, safety, and nickle.  He is also a prolific return option, which was basically the only offense Iowa had last year.

26) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA

Latu may end up being the best defensive player from this draft class.  Were it not for some injury concerns earlier in his career at Washington (a neck injury that the doctors at UW would not clear), he may have been a top 10 pick.  He has excellent side and production for an edge rusher, and can flourish as a OLB in the 3-4 defense of the Buccaneers.

27) Arizona Cardinals (from Houston)- Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State

Another edge rusher off the board.  This would be a great spot for a team that wants to trade up into the 1st round for a player, but if Arizona stays put, they address the biggest hole on their defense with the best player available.  Chop Robinson can line up opposite Zaven Collins and give the Cardinals a formidable young pass rush.

28) Buffalo Bills- Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU

Can you name the #1 WR in Buffalo now that Stefon Diggs was traded? Exactly.  No offense to Justin Shorter, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuels, but they are 2s or 3s at best.  Thomas immediately becomes the #1 WR for Josh Allen.  He led FBS in receiving TDs last year with 17, has excellent size and speed, and will be an upgrade to that receiver room.

29) Detroit Lions- Darius Robinson, DE, Missouri

For the first time in a long time, the Lions are in the position of being able to just take the best player available, or add depth to a position.  They do that here with Darius Robinson.  A true DE that can play opposite Aiden Hutchinson for years, Robinson was a first-team SEC beast.  Plus, he is a Detroit native.  To hear his name called in Detroit, getting drafted to the Lions, will be an amazing moment.

30) Baltimore Ravens- Jackson Powers-Johnson, C, Oregon

The Ravens need a ton of help along the offensive line.  While Tyler Linderbaum was drafted to be their starting center last year, they take another versatile center in Rimington Award winner Powers-Johnson.  He has also played guard, so he can help fill multiple needs along the line, which needs to keep Lamar Jackson upright if the Ravens want to make it back to the AFC Championship game and beyond.

31) San Francisco 49ers- Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama

I really thought the 49ers had the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, but in the end, they just couldn't cover KC's weapons for long enough.  While they have added significant pieces to their pass rush, SF needs secondary help. In addition to having an amazing nickname, Kool-Aid has the game to make it in the pros.  A 3-year starter for Nick Saban's defense, he has fantastic cover skills, excellent ball skills, and can even work in the return game.

32) Kansas City Chiefs- Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas

The Chiefs WRs drop too many passes, and Rasheed Rice might be in trouble with the law.  This seems obvious.  Give Mahomes more weapons.  Mitchell was a force this season.  He has that big play ability, and can go high point a ball with the best of them. Patrick Mahomes will be a happy man if Mitchell is the pick to end Thursday night.

Round 2

33) Carolina Panthers- Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina

Carolina's first pick in the draft gives them a weapon for Bryce Young. Adding Dionte Johnson was nice, but he is in the last year of his contract.

34) New England Patriots- Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona
35) Arizona Cardinals-
Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri
36) Washington Commanders-
Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU
37) Los Angeles Chargers-
Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
38) Tennessee Titans-
Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas
39) Carolina Panthers (from N.Y. Giants)-
Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia
40) Washington Commanders (from Chicago)-
Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

I could see the Commanders adding another OT, edge rusher, or secondary piece here.  Instead, they get a rising prospect in Coleman to bring significant size (6'3, 213) to their WR room, opposite Terry McLaurin and the speedy Jahan Dotson.

41) Green Bay Packers (from N.Y. Jets)- Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State
42) Houston Texans (from Minnesota)-
T.J. Tampa, CB, Iowa State

The upstart Texans finally get involved in the Draft.  After making huge successful splashes in the first round last year, here they add the best CB available to help improve that young defensive core.

43) Atlanta Falcons- T'Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas
44) Las Vegas Raiders- Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

Do I actually think Penix will fall to Round 2?  No.  I think the Raiders will make a move for him later in Day 1, or they will just take him at 13.  It will be a great spot for him to start his career.

45) New Orleans Saints (from Denver)- Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida
46) Indianapolis Colts-
Chris Braswell, OLB, Alabama
47) New York Giants (from Seattle)-
Max Melton, CB, Rutgers
48) Jacksonville Jaguars-
Kris Jenkins, DT, Michigan
49) Cincinnati Bengals-
Roger Rosengarten, OT, Washington
50) Philadelphia Eagles (from New Orleans)-
Edgerrin Cooper, ILB, Texas A&M
51) Pittsburgh Steelers-
Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon
52) Los Angeles Rams-
Ruke Orhorhoro, DT, Clemson

His name sounds like Scooby Doo is saying it, and I love him for it.

53) Philadelphia Eagles- Javon Bullard, S, Georgia
54) Cleveland Browns-
Dominick Puni, OT/G, Kansas

The Browns have joined the Draft!  While they are returning all 11 offensive starters, both Jack Conklin and Jedrick Willis have dealt with injuries in recent years.  Puni can be a developmental tackle, or a plug-and-play guard to help protect Watson (or whoever is playing QB there).

55) Miami Dolphins- Brandon Dorlus, DE, Oregon
56) Dallas Cowboys-
Jonathon Brooks, RB, Texas
57) Tampa Bay Buccaneers-
Payton Wilson, ILB, NC State
58) Green Bay Packers-
Blake Fisher, OT, Notre Dame
59) Houston Texans- Junior Colson, ILB, Michigan

I love this pick. DeMeco Ryans gets a true gamer that may remind him of himself to be the QB of that defense.

60) Buffalo Bills- Bralen Trice, DE, Washington
61) Detroit Lions-
Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota
62) Baltimore Ravens-
Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan
63) San Francisco 49ers-
Patrick Paul, OT, Houston
64) Kansas City Chiefs-
Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan

Round 3

65) Carolina Panthers- Marshawn Kneeland, DE, Western Michigan
66) Arizona Cardinals-
Christian Haynes, OG, UConn
67) Washington Commanders- Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
68) New England Patriots-
Malachi Corley, WR, Western Kentucky
69) Los Angeles Chargers- Blake Corum, RB, Michigan

The Chargers let Austin Eckler walk, so Jim Harbaugh brings in his guy to replace him in the run game. Could be a OROY candidate if this happens.

70) New York Giants- Trey Benson, RB, Florida State

Saquon is in Philly now, so the Giants look to Benson to help replace that Pro Bowl production.

71) Arizona Cardinals (from Tennessee)- Cedric Gray, ILB, North Carolina
72) New York Jets-
Cole Bishop, S, Utah
73) Detroit Lions (from Minnesota)-
Cam Hart, CB, Notre Dame
74) Atlanta Falcons-
D.J. James, CB, Auburn
75) Chicago Bears-
Brenden Rice, WR, USC

It is all about comfort for Caleb Williams.  You had his high school LT in Round 1.  Now you get his best target from USC.  Jerry's son will be able to make a name for himself in Chicago.

76) Denver Broncos- Michael Hall Jr., DT, Ohio State
77) Las Vegas Raiders-
Nehemiah Pritchett, CB, Auburn
78) Washington Commanders (from Seattle)-
Adisa Isaac, EDGE, Penn State
79) Atlanta Falcons (from Jacksonville)-
Jaden Hicks, S, Washington State
80) Cincinnati Bengals-
Jalen McMillan, WR, Washington
81) Seattle Seahawks (from New Orleans through Denver)-
Trevin Wallace, ILB, Kentucky
82) Indianapolis Colts-
Javon Baker, WR, UCF
83) Los Angeles Rams-
Calen Bullock, S, USC
84) Pittsburgh Steelers-
Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia
85) Cleveland Browns-
Mekhi Wingo, DT, LSU
86) Houston Texans (from Philadelphia)-
Cade Stover, TE, Ohio State
87) Dallas Cowboys-
Sedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia
88) Green Bay Packers-
Jeremiah Trotter Jr., ILB, Clemson
89) Tampa Bay Buccaneers-
Hunter Nourzad, C, Penn State
90) Arizona Cardinals (from Houston)-
MarShawn Lloyd, RB, USC
91) Green Bay Packers (from Buffalo)-
Tykee Smith, S, Georgia
92) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from Detroit)-
M.J. Devonshire, CB, Pittsburgh
93) Baltimore Ravens-
Jonah Elliss, EDGE, Utah
94) San Francisco 49ers- Ja'Lynn Polk, WR, Washington

We don't know if Brandon Aiyuk will still be on the 49ers by the time the Draft ends.  So, the 49ers grab the productive Washington WR.

95) Kansas City Chiefs- Devontez Walker, WR, North Carolina
96) Jacksonville Jaguars (Compensatory Selection)-
Brennan Jackson, DE, Washington State
97) Cincinnati Bengals (Compensatory Selection)-
Theo Johnson, TE, Penn State
98) Pittsburgh Steelers (from Philadelphia; Compensatory Selection)-
DeWayne Carter, DT, Duke
99) Los Angeles Rams (Special Compensatory Selection)-
Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
100) Washington Commanders (from San Francisco; Special Compensatory Selection)-
Kiran Amegadjie, OT, Yale

Round 4

101) Carolina Panthers- Tanner McLachlan, TE, Arizona
102) Seattle Seahawks (from Washington)-
Maason Smith, DT, LSU
103) New England Patriots-
Andru Phillips, CB, Kentucky
104) Arizona Cardinals-
Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama
105) Los Angeles Chargers-
Christian Jones, OT, Texas
106) Tennessee Titans-
Mohamed Kamara, EDGE, Colorado State
107) New York Giants-
Beau Brade, S, Maryland
108) Minnesota Vikings-
Cooper Beebe, OG, Kansas State
109) Atlanta Falcons-
Curtis Jacobs, ILB, Penn State
110) Los Angeles Chargers (from Chicago)- Caelen Carson, CB, Wake Forest
111) New York Jets-
Jamari Thrash, WR, Louisville
112) Las Vegas Raiders-
Zak Zinter, OG, Michigan

Before breaking his leg against Ohio State, Zinter was a borderline first round prospect.  I think he will bounce back and be a steal for someone, especially this late in the draft.

113) Baltimore Ravens (from Denver through N.Y. Jets)- Javon Foster, OT, Missouri
114) Jacksonville Jaguars-
Sataoa Laumea, OG/T, Utah
115) Cincinnati Bengals- Elijah Jones, CB, Boston College
116) Jacksonville Jaguars (from New Orleans)-
Johnny Wilson, WR, Florida State
117) Indianapolis Colts-
Kamren Kinchens, S, Miami
118) Seattle Seahawks-
Austin Booker, EDGE, Kansas
119) Pittsburgh Steelers-
Jaylin Simpson, S, Auburn
120) Philadelphia Eagles (from L.A. Rams through Pittsburgh)-
Javion Cohen, OG, Miami
121) Denver Broncos (from Miami)-
Josh Newton, CB, TCU
122) Chicago Bears (from Philadelphia)-
Myles Cole, DE, Texas
123) Houston Texans (from Cleveland)-
Jaden Crumedy, DT, Mississippi State
124) San Francisco 49ers (from Dallas)-
Marist Liufau, ILB, Notre Dame
125) Tampa Bay Buccaneers-
Mason McCormick, OG, South Dakota State
126) Green Bay Packers-
Christian Mahogany, OG, Boston College
127) Houston Texans-
Malik Washington, WR, Virginia
128) Buffalo Bills-
Justin Eboigbe, DT/E, Alabama
129) Minnesota Vikings (from Detroit)-
Trajan Jeffcoat, DE, Arkansas
130) Baltimore Ravens-
Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon
131) Kansas City Chiefs-
Matt Goncalves, OT, Pittsburgh
132) San Francisco 49ers (Compensatory Selection)-
Spencer Rattler, QB, South Carolina

The QB drought ends.  Kyle Shanahan is always looking for guys to develop.  If Purdy goes down, Rattler could be the player to step in.

133) Buffalo Bills (Compensatory Selection)- Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, S, Texas Tech
134) New York Jets (from Baltimore; Compensatory Selection)-
Ray Davis, RB, Kentucky
135) San Francisco 49ers-
Ben Sinnott, TE, Kansas State

Round 5

136) Denver Broncos (from Carolina through Cleveland)- Luke McCaffrey, WR, Rice

Ed McCaffery's other son, and Christian's brother, gets drafted by his dad's team to replace Jerry Jeudy.

137) New England Patriots- Leonard Taylor III, DT, Miami
138) Arizona Cardinals-
Eric Watts, DE, UConn
139) Washington Commanders-
Renardo Green, CB, Florida State
140) Los Angeles Chargers-
Edefuan Ulofoshio, ILB, Washington
141) Carolina Panthers (from N.Y. Giants)-
Bucky Irving, RB, Oregon
142) Carolina Panthers (from Tennessee)-
McKinnley Jackson, DT, Texas A&M
143) Atlanta Falcons-
Michael Pratt, QB, Tulane

The Falcons traded Desmond Ridder to Arizona, so bringing in a rookie to the QB room makes sense.

144) Buffalo Bills (from Chicago)- Dwight McGlothern, CB, Arkansas
145) Denver Broncos (from N.Y. Jets)-
Gabriel Murphy, DE, UCLA
146) Tennessee Titans (from Minnesota through Philadelphia)-
Jaylan Ford, ILB, Texas
147) Denver Broncos-
Tanor Bortolini, C, Wisconsin
148) Las Vegas Raiders-
Anthony Gould, WR, Oregon State
149) Cincinnati Bengals-
Beaux Limmer, C/G, Arkansas
150) New Orleans Saints-
Deantre Prince, CB, Ole Miss
151) Indianapolis Colts-
Audric Estime, RB, Notre Dame
152) Washington Commanders (from Seattle)-
Kitan Oladapo, S, Oregon State
153) Jacksonville Jaguars-
Isaiah Adams, OT, Illinois
154) Los Angeles Rams-
Jalen Sundell, OT, North Dakota State
155) Los Angeles Rams (from Pittsburgh)-
Decamerion Richardson, CB, Mississippi State
156) Cleveland Browns (from Philadelphia through Arizona)- Brevyn Spann-Ford, TE, Minnesota
157) Minnesota Vikings (from Cleveland)-
Jacob Cowing, WR, Arizona
158) Miami Dolphins-
AJ Barner, TE, Michigan
159) Kansas City Chiefs (from Dallas)-
Braelon Allen, RB, Wisconsin
160) Buffalo Bills (from Green Bay)-
Brandon Coleman, OG, TCU
161) Philadelphia Eagles (from Tampa Bay)-
Bub Means, WR, Pittsburgh
162) Arizona Cardinals (from Houston)-
Tip Reiman, TE, Illinois
163) Buffalo Bills-
Isaac Guerendo, RB, Louisville
164) Detroit Lions-
Jacob Monk, C, Duke
165) Baltimore Ravens-
Marcus Harris, DT, Auburn
166) New York Giants (from San Francisco through Carolina)-
Tommy Eichenberg, ILB, Ohio State
167) Minnesota Vikings (from Kansas City)-
Tarheeb Still, CB, Maryland
168) New Orleans Saints (Compensatory Selection)-
Jared Wiley, TE, TCU
169) Green Bay Packers (Compensatory Selection)-
Nelson Ceaser, DE, Houston
170) New Orleans Saints (Compensatory Selection)-
Jordan Jefferson, DT, LSU
171) Philadelphia Eagles (Compensatory Selection)-
Tylan Grable, OT, UCF

Jordan Magee, ILB, Temple
191) Indianapolis Colts- Nathaniel Watson, ILB, Mississippi State
192) Seattle Seahawks-
Dallin Holker, TE, Colorado State
193) New England Patriots (from Jacksonville)-
Tyrice Knight, ILB, UTEP
194) Cincinnati Bengals-
Javon Solomon, OLB/EDGE, Troy
195) Pittsburgh Steelers-
Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri
196) Los Angeles Rams-
Joshua Karty, K, Stanford

KICKER! The Rams have a need, and Karty is the best of the bunch.

197) Atlanta Falcons (from Cleveland)- Myles Harden, CB, South Dakota
198) Miami Dolphins-
X'Zauvea Gadlin, OG, Liberty
199) New Orleans Saints (from Philadelphia)-

Michael Barrett, ILB, Michigan
214) Cincinnati Bengals (Compensatory Selection)-
Rasheen Ali, RB, Marshall
215) San Francisco 49ers (Compensatory Selection)-
Isaiah Williams, WR, Illinois
216) Dallas Cowboys (Compensatory Selection)-
Jarrian Jones, CB, Florida State
217) Los Angeles Rams (Compensatory Selection)-
Jordan Travis, QB, Florida State

The Rams look to Travis as a potential QB of the future as he recovered from his leg injury. He was in the Heisman conversation before he was hurt last year (which led to FSU being left out of the playoffs). Matthew Stafford and the newly-added Jimmy Garoppolo aren't exactly young.

218) Baltimore Ravens (from N.Y. Jets; Compensatory Selection)- Aaron Casey, ILB, Indiana
219) Green Bay Packers (Compensatory Selection)-
Charles Turner III, C, LSU
220) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Compensatory Selection)-
Malik Mustapha, S, Wake Forest

229) Las Vegas Raiders (from Minnesota)-
Myles Murphy, DT, North Carolina
230) Minnesota Vikings (from Atlanta through Cleveland and Arizona)-
Jawhar Jordan, RB, Louisville
231) New England Patriots (from Chicago)-
Mason Pline, TE, Furman
232) Minnesota Vikings (from Denver through San Francisco and Houston)-
Nathan Thomas, OT, Louisiana
233) Dallas Cowboys (from Las Vegas)-
Jordan Whittington, WR, Texas
234) Indianapolis Colts-
KT Leveston, OG/T, Kansas State
235) Seattle Seahawks-
James Williams, S, Miami
236) Jacksonville Jaguars-
Josh Wallace, CB, Michigan
237) Cincinnati Bengals- Tory Taylor, P, Iowa

PUNTER!  The Bengals were one of the worst teams in punting last year. Why not add some competition?

238) Houston Texans (from New Orleans)- Dylan Laube, RB, New Hampshire
239) New Orleans Saints (from L.A. Rams through Denver)-
Ryan Rehkow, P, BYU

ANOTHER PUNTER!

240) Carolina Panthers (from Pittsburgh)- Sam Hartman, QB, Notre Dame

The Notre Dame QB goes back to North Carolina, where we spent years while playing for Wake Forest, to be the new young backup to Bryce Young, in case something happens to Andy Dalton.

241) Miami Dolphins- Johnny Dixon, CB, Penn State
242) Tennessee Titans (from Philadelphia)-
Nick Samac, C, Michigan State
243) Cleveland Browns-
JD Bertrand, ILB, Notre Dame
244) Dallas Cowboys-
Gabe Hall, DE/T, Baylor
245) Green Bay Packers-
Carter Bradley, QB, South Alabama
246) Tampa Bay Buccaneers-
Jalen Coker, WR, Holy Cross
247) Houston Texans-
Gottlieb Ayedze, OT, Maryland
248) Buffalo Bills-
Joe Milton III, QB, Tennessee

Big, athletic QB with a huge arm and some accuracy issues coming out of college?  Sounds like the perfect player to learn from would be Josh Allen.

249) Detroit Lions- Giovanni Manu, OT, British Columbia (Can.)

A huge and raw offensive line prospect from Tonga by way of Canada, Manu is quietly one of the most interesting prospects in the Draft.  I wouldn't be shocked if he goes earlier than this, as he has met with 10 teams for Top 30 visits, including the Lions.

250) Baltimore Ravens- John Rhys Plumlee, QB, UCF

I think the Ravens need a similar QB to Lamar (though not on the same overall skill level) to back him up now that Tyler Huntley is in Cleveland, and I don't think 38 year old Josh Johnson is the answer.  Having watched a ton of UCF games, I was always impressed with JRP.  He can also take on more of a Taysom Hill role as well.

251) San Francisco 49ers- Sione Vaki, S, Utah
252) Tennessee Titans (from Kansas City)-
Willie Drew, CB, Virginia State
253) Los Angeles Chargers (Compensatory Selection)-
Jaylen Harrell, EDGE, Michigan
254) Los Angeles Rams (Compensatory Selection)-
Garret Greenfield, OG, South Dakota State
255) Green Bay Packers (Compensatory Selection)-
Peter Bowden, LS, Wisconsin

LONG SNAPPER!  It is actually a need for the Packers, as I saw many reports blaming their kicking issues last year on their long snapper.

256) Denver Broncos (from New York Jets) (Compensatory Selection)- Ethan Driskell, OT, Marshall
257) New York Jets (Compensatory Selection)-
Kedon Slovis, QB, BYU

What is the most Jets move possible?  Draft a QB from the same school as your most recent draft bust QB.  Beautiful.  At least Slovis also had time at Pitt and USC as well.  They will hope to strike gold with Mr. Irrelevant in case Rodgers goes down again.

And there it is!  I am sure that now I've published this, numerous trades will happen and/or the Falcons will have picks taken away due to tampering, but what is done is done.  If you took the time to read it all, or even browse it, I thank you.  I really only do this for myself at this point, but I appreciate anyone else who finds this endeavor interesting.  It has been a rough couple of years, and things like this bring me joy and satisfaction.

I hope all your teams do exactly what you want them to.  I hope the future is bright for all of your teams.  I hope you have a great 3 days. Enjoy the Draft!

JFLANland 2023 NFL Mock Draft!

It is the most wonderful weekend of the year!  The NFL Draft!  Hello friends, and welcome to my annual 7 Round Mock Draft.  This year, we are doing something a little different.  I have gotten very annoyed by mocks that span multiple pages, cause it isn’t easy to search for your team.  I realize I have been guilty of doing this, with each round getting its own post.  Not anymore.  Instead, here are all 259 picks, with some notes on the first rounders, and other interesting picks along the way.  As per usual, I do not project trades, since I imagine there will be a ton of them, including in the Top 3. It will be a wild, unpredictable night. Enjoy it, and enjoy the draft.  With all that said, the Carolina Panthers are on the clock:

Round 1

1.)  Carolina Panthers (from Chicago)- Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

This seems to be the consensus for who the Panthers want, so I won’t go against it.  Young proved he can do it all at Alabama.  If he was 6’3, this would be a no-brainer.  But, in this NFL, we have seen some shorter QBs succeed.  The Panthers will hitch their wagon to him in a very winnable division.

2) Houston Texans- CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State

This team needs a QB. That is the biggest need.  If they take an edge rusher, and don’t take a QB at #12, then really, they don’t know what they are doing anymore.  It isn’t a guarantee they will have the #1 pick next year for Caleb Williams.  Instead, take the clear #2 QB (I’d say 1A), and move your franchise forward.  Stroud is an upgrade immediately at QB, in a division with no real standout teams.  The Texans can compete right away.

3) Arizona Cardinals- Will Anderson, EDGE, Alabama

I don’t know if Arizona will make this pick here, since they are trying to trade back as bad as possible. But we don’t project trades, so the best defensive player on the board goes with the third pick to a team that has lost Chandler Jones and JJ Watt over the past two seasons, anchoring a defense that will be on the field way too much since the offense won’t be great.

4) Indianapolis Colts- Will Levis, QB, Kentucky

Will Levis eats bananas with the peels still on, and puts mayonnaise in his coffee… which seems like things Jim Irsay might do too, right?  I think that Levis is the pick because they need a young starter now, not a project.  Levis is Mel Kiper’s favorite QB, has a big arm, and had success in the SEC with subpar talent around him. As with the Texans, the Colts play in a division where the teams are all pretty equal, and solid QB play immediately makes you a contender.  Levis comes in and starts Week 1 for them.

5) Seattle Seahawks (from Denver)- Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida

I desperately hope this pick happens for everyone involved.  The Seahawks never pick this high, so why not take a change on the most physically gifted QB in the Draft?  Richardson can sit behind Geno Smith, learn from him and from Pete Carroll, and then take over in 2024 or 2025.  I think it is the best case scenario, and a move that could set up Seattle for the next decade.

6) Detroit Lions (from L.A. Rams)- Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia

The best thing for an extremely talented player that has some character issues is strong coaching and good leadership in the locker room.  Shockingly, that is exactly what Detroit finally has. Plugging Carter into Detroit’s D-Line along with Aiden Hutchenson will be a nightmare for the NFC North.  He can be as dominant as Ndamukong Suh once was for them, and the Lions may be the favorite to win the division.

7) Las Vegas Raiders- Paris Johnson, OT, Ohio State

With all of the QBs gone, the priority for the Raiders should be to keep Jimmy G upright and healthy.  Paris Johnson can plug in immediately at left tackle, but also has experience at every line spot except center.  He will be an immediate anchor for a group that has struggled a lot in recent years.

8) Atlanta Falcons- Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

The Falcons need help everywhere, and have said they are sticking with Desmond Ridder at QB.  They spent a fair amount on their defense in free agency, but I still think they need help in the secondary.  I’ve seen some talking heads say Witherspoon might be the best player in the draft, which could be a stretch, but he definitely might be the best CB available.

9) Chicago Bears (from Carolina)- Peter Skoronski, OT/G, Northwestern

Someone call George Wendt and ask him to say the name “Skoronski” in his Bears Superfan voice.  It just makes too much sense.  You need to protect Justin Fields, the fanbase is already familiar with Skoronski since he played just down the road in Evanston, IL, and he has the versatility to play multiple line positions.  If he is there at 9, this is the pick about which I feel most confident.

10) Philadelphia Eagles (from New Orleans)- Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas

As a Commanders fan, I don’t want to see this happen.  The Eagles offense would be unstoppable.  Yes, you can find RBs later in the draft, but Robinson grades an entire round better than the next best one.  While the Eagles prefer to build through the trenches first, I think that Robinson is too good to pass up.

11) Tennessee Titans- Jaxson Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State

Name a Titans WR….  If you said Traylon Burks, Chris Moore, or Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, then you are either a Titans fan or obsessed with football.  Point is, the Titans desperately need better WRs.  Jaxson Smith-Njigba is the best one in the draft, and is a no-brainer pick if he is available at 11.

12) Houston Texans (from Cleveland)- Nolan Smith, OLB, Georgia

This draft is deep in pass rushers, which is why the Texans should take one here and not at #2.  Nolan Smith missed the end last season with a torn pec, but was very productive when healthy.  He also lit up the Combine, both on and off the field.  He can have a Micah Parsons-type impact as an OLB and rusher.

13) Green Bay Packers (from New York Jets)- Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College

The ultimate heel move by the Packers!  Now that they traded Aaron Rodgers away, they finally draft a pass catcher in Round 1.  They would prefer Smith-Njigba, but Flowers is an excellent route runner with big play ability, and should pair well with Christian Watson as options for Jordan Love.

14) New England Patriots- Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas Tech

There is some talk of Tyree Wilson going in the Top 3. So, if he is still available at 14, the Patriots throw out the plan and take him.  They still aren’t sure what they are doing on offense, and the top 2 pass catchers are off the board, so Wilson is the pick.  Plus, the Patriots have to be able to get to all the QBs in their division.  Speaking of…

15) New York Jets (from Green Bay)- Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

Welcome to New York, Aaron Rodgers.  All the ayahuasca in the world won’t protect your blind side.  Broderick Jones was the left tackle for the end of the 2021 season for the Bulldogs (when they won the National Championship), and all of 2022 (when they *checks notes* won the National Championship). Frankly, he could be a steal as the third Olineman off the board, and the Jets should run the card up if he is there.

16) Washington Commanders- Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon

Ah, my Commanders.  This may be the final draft of the Dan Snyder era, and that is mostly what the fans are concentrating on.  As far as the Draft is concerned, this team wants to trade down, desperately.  So, will they end up with a top CB like Christian Gonzalez?  Probably not.  But, if they are at 16 and he is available, he is the pick.  I could also see them look at OT, LB, or (sigh) DE here.

17) Pittsburgh Steelers- Joey Porter Jr, CB, Penn State

This seems to perfect, right?  The son goes to his dad’s team, filling a need, and all is right in the world?  I’d love it.  Porter is a long, physical corner who can disrupt passes and cover bigger WRs.  The Steeler need to be able to stop those high-flying AFC offenses like they used to.

18) Detroit Lions- Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame

The Lions traded away TJ Hockenson to the Vikings last year, but still almost made the playoffs.  After adding Jalen Carter to the line, they add the best overall tight end in the draft in Mayer.  He can catch, make plays, and is a great run blocker.  He may fit in better than Hockenson ever did.

19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee

Well, Tom Brady is finally retired, we think, and one of the main reasons the Bucs struggled last year was that their offensive line had massive holes.  So, protecting their new QB (probably Baker Mayfield) should be their biggest concern.  Darnell Wright has been shooting up draft boards, and should be the pick here.  He has experience at both tackle positions, and can move inside if needed.

20) Seattle Seahawks- Lukas Van Ness, DE, Iowa

The Seahawks added their QB of the future at pick 5, and they add immediate help along the defensive line with pick 20.  Lukas Van Ness could go anywhere from the top 10 to here, but I don’t think he will fall past this spot.  He is a plug and play player that can stop the run or rush the passer.

21) Los Angeles Chargers- Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah

The Chargers just need to find more weapons for Justin Herbert, along with some better coaching.  Since you can draft a coach, they can add a premier TE in Dalton Kincaid.  He is 1A to Michael Mayer, and may be a more explosive pass catcher, though a slightly worse blocker.  He will be a weapon in the slot, with a comp to Zach Ertz being very fair.

22) Baltimore Ravens- Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU

The Ravens added OBJ and hope that Rashod Bateman will be healthy.  Still, they could use another true WR weapon, and Johnson is the best available.  He is a massive possession receiver with a huge catch radius and good hands.  He would compliment the other guys in the receiver room well.  Now, who is throwing them the ball?

23) Minnesota Vikings- Jordan Addison, WR, USC

Adam Thielen is no longer in Minnesota, and I don’t see them taking Hendon Hooker here when they are still trying to win.  They need someone to pair with Justin Jefferson, and Jordan Addison is that player.  Like Thielen, he is a premier route runner who is quicker than fast, but has produced everywhere he has been, both at Pitt and USC.

24) Jacksonville Jaguars- Will McDonald IV, EDGE, Iowa State

So, I won’t say Travon Walker is a bust yet.  He just wasn’t as impactful last year as some other linemen that were taken after him.  The point is, the Jags still need pass rush help.  Will McDonald IV is that answer.  He is an explosive pass rusher who is able to slide into that 3-4 system immediately.

25) New York Giants- Myles Murphy, EDGE, Clemson

I don’t think there is a WR available here to make it worth the pick, but the Giants were able to make the playoffs last year based on solid defense and surprisingly good play from Daniel Jones.  Adding another rusher like Murphy would only increase the ability of the defense to stop the rest of the NFC East.

26) Dallas Cowboys- Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia

Dalton Schultz took his talents down to Houston, so TE may be the biggest need for the star, and they address it with the biggest TE in the class.  Washington is huge, a really good blocker, and has a massive catch radius.  He isn’t the best route runner, but is athletic enough to be coached up and turn into a dominant weapon.

27) Buffalo Bills- Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh

The Bills don’t have any DTs signed for the 2024 season.  I don’t think there is a middle linebacker worth taking here to replace Tremaine Edmonds, so Kancey is the pick. 1st Team All American and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and his Combine comp is John Randle.  A pretty solid pick this late in the first round.

28) Cincinnati Bengals- Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland

The Bengals lost a ton of talent in the secondary this offseason, and I think they try to replace it with the speedy Banks.  He has good size, 4.35 speed, and production on the outside shutting down WRs. A little more coaching, and he could be an All Pro CB.

29) New Orleans Saints (from San Francisco through Miami and Denver)- Adetomiwa Adebawore, DE/DT, Northwestern

The Saints need help along their defensive line, and Adebawore provides flexibility and athleticism. He is a little raw at the moment, but can easily be coached up to make the most of his explosiveness.

30) Philadelphia Eagles- Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson

As stated earlier, the Eagles like to build through the trenches.  After taking a star RB with their first pick, they go back to what made them a now-great franchise, and take Bresee.  He will plug into a defense that needed to bring in DTs midway through the season last year, and grow with that excellent pass rush.

31) Kansas City Chiefs- Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE, Kansas State

The Super Bowl champs don’t need much, but pass rushers are always welcome.  Anudike-Uzomah was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and should bring an explosiveness to the outside of the KC line to match what Chris Jones brings on the interior.

Round 2

32) Pittsburgh Steelers (from Chicago)- Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
33) Houston Texans- Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee

The Texans get their new QB (who they really should take) a weapon on the outside.

34) Arizona Cardinals- Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan
35) Indianapolis Colts- O'Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida
36) Los Angeles Rams- Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State

The Rams may start caring a little bit more about draft picks now.  Having traded away Jalen Ramsey, they need help at CB.  Forbes was super productive, but his slender frame gives some teams pause.  If he bulks up and can keep his speed, he could be special.

37) Seattle Seahawks (from Denver)- John Michael Schmitz, OC, Minnesota
38) Las Vegas Raiders- Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia
39) Carolina Panthers- Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas
40) New Orleans Saints- Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina
41) Tennessee Titans- Keion White, EDGE, Georgia Tech
42) Green Bay Packers (from Cleveland through New York Jets)- Joe Tippmann, OC, Wisconsin
43) New York Jets- Brian Branch, S, Alabama
44) Atlanta Falcons- BJ Ojulari, EDGE, LSU
45) Green Bay Packers- Luke Musgrave, TE, Oregon State
46) New England Patriots- Dawand Jones, OT, Ohio State
47) Washington Commanders- Matthew Bergeron, OT, Syracuse
48) Detroit Lions- Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee

If Hendon Hooker wasn’t already 25, and wasn’t coming off of an ACL tear, I think he’d be drafted in the Top 10.  As it is, a team will likely still take him in the first round.  It could even be Detroit trading back in and letting him sit behind Jared Goff.

49) Pittsburgh Steelers- Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
50) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Derick Hall, EDGE, Auburn
51) Miami Dolphins- Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama

The Dolphins are finally on the clock, having forfeited their first round pick after tampering with Tom Brady, and decide to add another weapon to their offense.  Yes, they already have a pretty full running back room, but Gibbs could be better than all of them.

52) Seattle Seahawks- Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa
53) Chicago Bears (from Baltimore)- Isaiah Foskey, EDGE, Notre Dame
54) Los Angeles Chargers- Cedric Tillman, WR, Tennessee
55) Detroit Lions (from Minnesota)- Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina
56) Jacksonville Jaguars- DJ Turner, CB, Michigan
57) New York Giants- Julius Brents, CB, Kansas State
58) Dallas Cowboys- Steve Avila, OG/OC, TCU
59) Buffalo Bills- Trenton Simpson, ILB, Clemson
60) Cincinnati Bengals- Antonio Johnson, S, Texas A&M
61) Chicago Bears (from San Francisco through Carolina)- Zach Charbonnet, RB, UCLA
62) Philadelphia Eagles- Ji'Ayir Brown, S, Penn State
63) Kansas City Chiefs- Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss

Round 3

64) Chicago Bears- Siaki Ika, DT, Baylor
65) Houston Texans- Luke Wypler, OC, Ohio State
66) Arizona Cardinals- Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami
67) Denver Broncos (from Indianapolis)- Riley Moss, CB, Iowa
68) Denver Broncos- Olusegun Oluwatimi, OC, Michigan

The Broncos finally show up after trading picks for Russell Wilson.  The immediately address tow needs in CB and Center.

69) Los Angeles Rams- Tuli Tuipulotu, DE, USC
70) Las Vegas Raiders- Sam LaPorta, TE, Iowa
71) New Orleans Saints- Clark Phillips III, CB, Utah
72) Tennessee Titans- Cody Mauch, OG, North Dakota State
73) Houston Texans (from Cleveland)- Daiyan Henley, LB, Washington State
74) Cleveland Browns (from N.Y. Jets)- Keondre Coburn, DT, Texas

The Browns traded picks for noted sex offender Deshaun Watson.  He didn’t play great last year, but they hope he will bounce back from his layoff.  They gave him Elijah Moore in a trade, no they address a big hole at defensive line.

75) Atlanta Falcons- Marvin Mims, WR, Oklahoma
76) New England Patriots (from Carolina)- A.T. Perry, WR, Wake Forest
77) Los Angeles Rams (from New England through Miami)- Tank Dell, WR, Houston
78) Green Bay Packers- Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan State
79) Indianapolis Colts (from Washington)- Kyu Blu Kelly, CB, Stanford
80) Pittsburgh Steelers- Tyler Scott, WR, Cincinnati
81) Detroit Lions- Byron Young, EDGE, Tennessee
82) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Jartavius Martin, S, Illinois
83) Seattle Seahawks- Rejzohn Wright, CB, Oregon State
84) Miami Dolphins- Brenton Strange, TE, Penn State
85) Los Angeles Chargers- Isaiah McGuire, EDGE, Missouri
86) Baltimore Ravens- Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama
87) Minnesota Vikings- Garrett Williams, CB, Syracuse
88) Jacksonville Jaguars- Devon Achane, RB, Texas A&M
89) New York Giants- Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU
90) Dallas Cowboys- Rashee Rice, WR, SMU
91) Buffalo Bills- Tyjae Spears, RB, Tulane,
92) Cincinnati Bengals- Tucker Kraft, TE, South Dakota State
93) Carolina Panthers (from San Francisco)- Andre Carter II, EDGE, Army
94) Philadelphia Eagles- Jaelyn Duncan, OT, Maryland
95) Kansas City Chiefs- Zacch Pickens, DL, South Carolina
96) Arizona Cardinals (Compensatory Selection)- Elijah Higgins, WR/TE, Stanford
97) Washington Commanders (Compensatory Selection)- Dorian Williams, ILB, Tulane
98) Cleveland Browns (Special Compensatory Selection)- Henry To'oTo'o, LB, Alabama
99) San Francisco 49ers (Special Compensatory Selection)- Blake Freeland, OT, BYU

The 49ers are finally able to pick, here, at the end of Day 2.  They have a ton of Day 2 and 3 picks, so they could trade up.  Anyway, they lost Mike McGlinchey in free agency, so there is a big hole at right tackle.

100) Las Vegas Raiders from Kansas City Chiefs through New York Giants (Special Compensatory Selection)- Sydney Brown, S, Illinois
101) San Francisco 49ers (Special Compensatory Selection)- Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, CB, TCU
102) San Francisco 49ers (Special Compensatory Selection)- Jordan Battle, S, Alabama

Round 4

103) Chicago Bears- Ricky Stromberg, OC, Arkansas
104) Houston Texans- Kei’Trel Clark, CB, Louisville
105) Arizona Cardinals- Emil Ekiyor Jr., OG, Alabama
106) Indianapolis Colts- Zach Harrison, EDGE, Ohio State
107) New England Patriots (from L.A. Rams)- Colby Wooden, DT, Auburn
108) Denver Broncos- Karl Brooks, DT, Bowling Green
109) Las Vegas Raiders- Chandler Zavala, G, NC State
110) Atlanta Falcons (from Tennessee)- Jaquelin Roy, DT, LSU
111) Cleveland Browns- Zach Evans, RB, Ole Miss
112) New York Jets- DeMarvion Overshown, LB, Texas
113) Atlanta Falcons- Ivan Pace Jr., LB, Cincinnati
114) Carolina Panthers- Dontavyion Wicks, WR, Virginia
115) New Orleans Saints- Nick Herbig, EDGE, Wisconsin
116) Green Bay Packers- JL Skinner, S, Boise State
117) New England Patriots- Jaylon Jones, CB, Texas A&M
118) Washington Commanders- Luke Schoonmaker, TE, Michigan
119) Minnesota Vikings (from Detroit)- Jake Haener, QB, Fresno State

The Vikings are likely going to move on from Kirk Cousins soon.  Haener isn’t that dissimilar of a QB, so he can come in and learn for a year, then compete for the starting job once Kirk is gone.

120) Pittsburgh Steelers- Owen Pappoe, LB, Auburn
121) Jacksonville Jaguars (from Tampa Bay)- Zack Kuntz, TE, Old Dominion
122) Kansas City Chiefs (from Miami)- Tyler Steen, OT, Alabama
123) Seattle Seahawks- Jammie Robinson, S, Florida State
124) Baltimore Ravens- McClendon Curtis, OG, Chattanooga
125) Los Angeles Chargers- Israel Abanikanda, RB, Pittsburgh
126) Cleveland Browns (from Minnesota)- Charlie Jones, WR, Purdue
127) Jacksonville Jaguars- Carter Warren, OT, Pittsburgh
128) New York Giants- Tavius Robinson, EDGE, Ole Miss

166) Kansas City Chiefs- DeWayne McBride, RB, UAB
167) Los Angeles Rams (Compensatory Selection)- Dorian Thompson-Robinson, QB, UCLA

Is Matthew Stafford healthy? Who knows.  But they need a solid backup now that Baker is in Tampa Bay.  DTR has had an excellent pre-Draft journey, and likely will go higher than Round 5.

168) Arizona Cardinals (Compensatory Selection)- Jaren Hall, QB, BYU

We know that Kyler Murray isn’t healthy, and their backup options aren’t great (sorry Colt McCoy). Jaren Hall can fill that void until Arizona likely picks towards the top of the Draft in 2024, and has to make a difficult decision with Kyler.

169) Dallas Cowboys (Compensatory Selection)- Jarrett Patterson, OC, Notre Dame
170) New York Jets (from Green Bay) (Compensatory Selection)- Josh Whyle, TE, Cincinnati
171) Los Angeles Rams (Compensatory Selection)- TJ Bass, OT/G, Oregon

173) San Francisco 49ers (Compensatory Selection)- Anthony Bradford, G, LSU
174) Las Vegas Raiders (Compensatory Selection)- Tanner McKee, QB, Stanford

A QB run! Jimmy G needs a backup when he inevitably gets hurt, and McKee is a similar player.

175) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Compensatory Selection)- Stetson Bennett, QB, Georgia

Stetson Bennet and Baker Mayfield in the same QB room?  That’s fun!  Bennett could also win that job.

176) Indianapolis Colts from Dallas Cowboys (Compensatory Selection)- Lonnie Phelps, OLB, Kansas
177) Los Angeles Rams (Compensatory Selection)- Nesta Jade SIlvera, DT, Arizona State

Round 6

178) Kansas City Chiefs (from Chicago through Miami)- Brandon Hill, S, Pittsburgh

192) New England Patriots- Ochaun Mathis, EDGE, Nebraska
193) Washington Commanders- Habakkuk Baldonado, EDGE, Pitt
194) Detroit Lions- Jake Moody, K, Michigan

KICKER! Apparently the Lions really want Moody, even though they have Michael Badgley signed.

195) Denver Broncos (from Pittsburgh)- Tank Bigsby, RB, Auburn
196) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Nick Saldiveri, G, Old Dominion
197) Miami Dolphins- Tyler Lacy, DT/E, Oklahoma State

203) Houston Texans (from N.Y. Giants)- Trey Palmer, WR, Nebraska
204) Las Vegas Raiders (from Dallas)- Jon Gaines II, G/C, UCLA
205) Buffalo Bills- Justin Shorter, WR, Florida
206) Cincinnati Bengals- Kenny McIntosh, RB, Georgia

215) Washington Commanders (Compensatory Selection)- Keaton Mitchell, RB, East Carolina

221) Indianapolis Colts- Roschon Johnson, RB, Texas
222) San Francisco 49ers (from Denver)- Brayden Willis, TE/FB, Oklahoma
223) Los Angeles Rams- Alex Ward, LS, UCF

A legit need!  The Packers signed the Rams long-snapper, so the only long-snapper that was invited to the Combine gets to go play in SoFi.

224) Atlanta Falcons (from Las Vegas)- Andrew Vorhees, G, USC
225) Atlanta Falcons- Dontay Demus Jr., WR, Maryland
226) Jacksonville Jaguars (from Carolina)- Derius Davis, WR, TCU

249) Kansas City Chiefs- Carrington Valentine, CB, Kentucky
250) Kansas City Chiefs (Compensatory Selection)- Isaiah Land, OLB/EDGE, Florida A&M
251) Pittsburgh Steelers (from Los Angeles Rams) (Compensatory Selection)- Evan Hull, RB, Northwestern
252) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Compensatory Selection)- Xazavian Valladay, RB, Arizona State
253) San Francisco 49ers (Compensatory Selection)- Travis Dye, RB, USC

258) Chicago Bears (Compensatory Selection)- Ronnie Bell, WR, Michigan
259) Houston Texans (Compensatory Selection)- Michael Jefferson, WR, Louisiana

Michael Jefferson was rated as a mid-round prospect.  However, he was recently in a fairly serious car crash.  Thankfully, he is expected to make a full recovery.  I think the Texans draft and sign him, put him on the IR, and stash him away until 2024, leading to an excellent comeback story.

There we go!  Let me know what you think.  Who do you want your team to take?  When will the QBs go?  How many trades will there be?  We will find out Thursday night and throughout the weekend!  Enjoy the Draft my friends, and thanks for reading!
